Taking Lives
A suspense thriller that is neither suspenseful or thrilling.
predictable plot B movie acting. The only good part was seeing Angelina Jolene naked. ** out of *****
The Punisher
Movie comic book. Lots of killings. Lots of explosions Lots of action.
Better than the usual film of this genre. worth a rent **** out of *****

but I hadn't seen it in a while. Gregory Peck, Dean Jagger, Gary Merrill in "Twelve O'Clock High". Hell of a good WWII movie, extremely authentic. Contains actual footage shot from B-17s on missions over France and Germany.
How those guys could get in the ball turret, nose turret and top turret with full knowledge of how exposed they were, I'll never understand. But I am immensely grateful to them.

OK. Mid has opened the door with her "Twelve O'clock High" entry for great movie.
Since I never go to the movies I will nevertheless give you my all time fav (as they say in the biz) and reveal that "The Lion in Winter" starring Miss Katherine Hepburn and Mr. Peter O'toole has top stop for my rav fav.
If you bother to get it, don't let the grainy film, and the poor overall quality of the reproduction, give you no never mind.
PS If you don't like totally digusting relationships, this film is not for you.

Here are some good ones I have seen recently;
Alone in the dark; action sci-fi with monsters and stuff.
The boogeyman; scary stuff, wouldn't recommend for children.
Assault on precinct 13; action packed thriller [crooked cops].
Are we there yet?; good comedy, even the kids can watch it.
Son of mask; good comedy, even the kids can watch it.
Robots; animated kids movie.
Sorry can't name the stars in the movies, never really cared who played the parts.
I'll post 3-6 new movies next week. |

Just saw Ladder 49. I really liked it, it was different than I thought it would be.
Tried to watch the Huckabees movie and it was a bit much. Philosophy jokes just aren't all that funny. But then again I like the stooges so what do I know?

Me and a buddy caight Sin City last weekend. Good movie and one I am definitely adding to my ever expanding DVD collection.

Sin City was good. Way better than Kill Bill, IMO.. Sin City was way more violent!

Jeez Pip,
I'm starting to think there is no hope for you.  Kill Bill, both parts was one of most entertaining movies I ever saw. Spoofed almost everything, had twists, great on-going gags, had a unique storey line with funky plot turns, and interesting characters. Michael Parks was hilarious in both his roles. The kung fu stuff was a riot. Never heard of a Texas funeral before. And heard the comment somewhere the Darryl Hannah character was a compilation of every ex-wife who ever lived rolled into one personna.
Having said that, I enjoyed Sin City immensely as well. The scene Tarantino directed was great, (Del Toro in the car with Clive Owens). Very interesting action and visuals, dark story line, loved the linage of the three storey lines.
I was reading most of the actors line up to work for peanuts with Rodriguez.

Thatcher, I adore "Lion in Winter" too. I got a crush on Peter O'Toole when I saw "Becket" and "Lion in Winter" just reinforced it.

Katharine Hepburn is no slow-mo either. O'Toole was my heart throb when we still made movies. Oh wait.....he still is.
Budd My son took his girlfriend to Sin City. Bad Move. He really like it and she hated it. I warned him in advance, but fool that he is, he didn't listen to mumsy. As payback he had to watch a chick flick with her and her mother last night. I had to laugh, but he had it coming. I asked him what the film was about and he said, "something about dancing. It had the woman with the big mouth in it". I'm taking that to be Julia Roberts. HA! |

Thatcher's son should run the other way as fast as he can. A girl who can't enjoy Sin City isn't worth dating and one who makes him watch a chick flick as "payback" has serious control issues.

Mid- That''s the right movie. When I talked to him about it, he was a little miffed that it made the forum. Something like, "do you think all of Canada needs to know this?". I assured him I was only telling a middle aged woman from Wisconsin. Igot a smile anyway. |
