Two discs, 20 tracks, and there might be two that I'd bother to play again. One is the song they play in the TV commercial (How Long) which sounds like something they might have been recorded in the 70's. The other is a Joe Walsh number and I'm not much of a Joe fan.
For collectors and serious Eagles fans only. Don't waste your money otherwise. |

You are not alone in your review Nomad.
You can take the Eagles out of the 1970s, but you can't take the 1970s out of the Eagles.
That, at least, is the conclusion of US critics who have greeted the band's first album of original material in 28 years with less than open arms.
"Good news, the Eagles haven't changed a bit," wrote The Christian Science Monitor.
"Bad news: The Eagles haven't changed a bit."The band that spawned such monster hits as Hotel California, Desperado and Take It To The Limit has been promising a new album for years, to the delight and frustration of their enduring army of fans.

I haven't heard any of it yet, but I'm not convinced that new music that sounds like it is old music is a bad thing. Most of the music my kids listen to is the stuff I listened to in the 70's 80's & 90's anyway.

| "How Long" is another tune written by JD Souther and sounds like a reworked "Take It Easy" or something along those lines. The Don Henley stuff is pretty much all his standard fare - his personal politics come through loud and clear to the point of being annoying. There just isn't much here to write home about, considering they've been writing the material for 6 years. It's pretty disappointing. 20 tracks of schlock for the most part. |

Thanks for the tip. I might have had a moment of weakness otherwise. _________________ "The past is a foreign country; they do things differently there." L. P. Hartley, The Go-Between |

I remember back in the 70s and how everyone started to sound alike and each band had a dance remix for the disco as well. Thank God for the Ramones!!! _________________ 18-1...Looks good on them!!! |
