McCain, perhaps unfortunately, makes far more sense on a bad day than GWB or Obama on a good day.  Ageism isn't a winning tactic.

When you see some of his speeches, do you really think he has it all together?

When the Paris Hilton video came out, they didn't discuss dementia, but they did discuss the fact that Hilton could read a teleprompter better than McCain could, and she is a vapid blond "famous for being famous"

I think he could turn out to be a disaster, but then I guess so could Obama. Right now at least I think Obama has his head screwed on correctly. I would want to know a lot about McCains VP if I were to consider voting for him.

As for health care. Obama will find, that the only way they can afford health care is to have a single pay system as we do here, anything else is going to be far to expensive. If you start insuring the uninsured, then many of those are uninsured because of their health risk, or have reached the limit on their insurance.

59% 0f US doctors realise that a single pay system is the only equitable way

The same arguments were made in 1992. By 2000 we had a balanced budget and a thriving economy. I'd wager that no matter who gets elected we won't see universal healthcare. There will not be the votes in congress for it, the lobbiests are just too powerful.
The whole NAFTA thing won't be re-opened. I doubt if there will be any mention of it after the convention.
Like it or not all politicians on both sides make promises they will never keep. Only the truly naive believe otherwise.
Right now we are 490 bil in the hole for the present year and have nothing but a sinking dollar, high inflation and BS from Bush to show for it. McCain is all for spending like a drunken sailor in Iraq, which has cost us a lot more than any healthcare plan will. Obama has laid out a plan for withdrawal from Iraq, which McCain called naive. I see on CNN this morning that there is talk of troop withdrwals ending in 2010. Is McCain the naive one now??
How does McCains experience play with bettering relations with our current allies and trading partners?? They definitely want to see some kind of shift in American policy. Bush has done a horrible job and squandered good will like Spitzer does with money and hookers. All the while we have McCain being the good little cheerleader he is on the sidelines doing his RAH RAH routine. How will he change things??? All I see are ads with Britney and Paris Hilton. Who is the empty suit here again???

I agree health care won't happen Menehune, the US public needs to go a lot further before they are ready for "socialised medicine"

I think you have enough people in favor of it but the medical lobby is just to powerful to overcome at the present time. It'll probably take a huge crisis to get something like that passed. The Canada is socialist crowd aren't as large as you'd think but their backers have big bucks.

OK McCain is too old and feeble minded to be president.
What's Obama's excuse. The man is an idiot.

So,

Let me get this straight, we shouldn't vote for a man because statistically he is more likely to suffer from memory loss or mild pre-dementia symptoms than would Barak. We are, however, not focusing on his policies, his ideals, or his direction. It seems to me if we were raising the specter of race as a determinant for the application of voting power, there would be a much more serious issue to deal with. I suppose I just don't understand the issues as well as some, but it seems that the combination of experience and a desire not to begin massive social undertakings at a time when the United States can ill afford to do is logical policy. But I don't vote in US elections and don't ever intend to, so my comments are meaningless, really.

I vote in American elections but I don't think it gives my words any more or less weight. I have some neighbors whose words would make you cringe and they vote as well.

That survey does not surprise me at all. Anybody laid off can tell you all about the flaws of the American system.
