I'm interested in downloading and burning songs from a legitimate site(s). I understand that there are a number of sites that charge around a buck a selection. If anyone uses/has a favorite that works for them, I would be interested in hearing your opinion on which I should try.

Just use Limewire for all of your downloading needs. It doesn't cost a cent nor should it. I am too cheap to pay for this kind of stuff so I don't. Granted I am not a prolific downloader as I only have 700 songs in my playlist but that is 700 bucks more in my pocket.

Thanks Shib, I'll check into this tonight. I'm looking for 50-60's tunes and also some Big Band classics.

I have downloaded from Abba to ZZ Top off of Limewire and a little bit of classical stuff like Tchaikovsky and Bob and Tom. It is a peer to peer file swapping service, and if you decide to go that route, do not download anything from someone using a modem. I actually saw a person listed as using a 14.4 modem a couple of months back. I think he might still be trying to download that same song. Very Happy

Decided on iTunes, about 0.99 per song and a good selection of artists and music. Even found and downloaded a couple of Les Paul & Mary Ford oldies. Thanks for the input guys.

Back in the day of Audio galazy and Kazaa, I downloaded like a mofo, but gave it up. What's the current word in Canada? I'm seriously considering getting Napster or Itunes... but i'd rather some free music.

If you aren't using the resources of the Usenet newsgroups, you're missing out on thousands of MP3s being posted every day. If you have an internet connection, you already have access to a totally anonymous source of every decade and every genre you can think of. Obscure, out of print material, it's all out there. Singles, full albums, more than you can possibly download in a day.

If you want to know more, lemme know. Even Macs can do it Shib!
