He certainly didn't seem to have a hearing impairment during the debate when five people were talking at once.
And to claim that it's a language comprehension issue is a double whammy - first of all, it confirms to English Canadians that the guy can't even converse credibly. Is this someone you want to see representing us in Washington or London? Secondly, this wasn't a live interview, it was a taped piece. I was always under the impression that for media bits like these, the campaign manager or someone would vet the questions in advance and brief the politico on what to expect and what to say. Yet he couldn't come up with a response after how many attempts?
Imagine the number of times DeYawn has practiced being interviewed. Imagine how many times his staff have coached him on answers to possible questions. This question never came up before? Nobody has ever asked him what they would have done differently than the Tories have? Not even in French?
Liberal supporters are sputtering and trying all sorts of diversions to explain why this isn't bad for DeYawn. He didn't understand the question? Everyone else seems to have understood it plainly. CTV shouldn't have aired it? If it came out after that they'd held on to this and not run it, they'd be accused of shilling for the Libs. They're a news organization, and this is news-worthy. They'd be fools NOT to run it.
Even Libs will be pointing to this in the post-election meltdown as they scramble to dump DeYawn. (fingers crossed) |
