You may not have noticed, but as well as Canadian Federal elections, and US elections, there were municipal elections in BC
Vancouver has a new Mayor, overwhelming margin of victory, and he is an interesting character
He is Gregor Robertson, he is 43 years old, and until he resigned to run for Mayor, he was an NDP MLA. He is married with 4 kids.
All the rest of what you probably should know about him, you will learn from a list of his contributors to his campaign, who include;
Dr. Andrew Weil, the high-profile founder of the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona.
Gary Hirshberg, founder of the multi-million-dollar U.S. organic yogurt company Stonyfield Farms, and author of the book Stirring It Up: How to Make Money and Save the World.
Mark Deutschmann, founder and owner of Tennessee-based Village Real Estate, which focuses on recreating neighbourhoods in inner cities.
Andrew Beath, founder of California-based Earthways Foundation, a non-profit group working on social justice, environmental restoration, and economic sustainability.
Joel Solomon, and Carol Newell, both US born, now Canadian, partners in Renewal Partners, a private Vancouver investment firm that backs companies offering "new products and services needed for sustainability."
Ed Levy, an adjunct professor with the W. Maurice Young Centre for Applied Ethics at the University of B.C
Raffi Cavoukian, children's singer and founder of Child Honouring, a project that promotes child well-being as a path to sustainability.
Probably the first Canadian politician to get a lot of his financial support from the USA.
What do they have in common?
They are all members of Social Venture Network

Robertson's platform included a promise to house the homeless, and make Vancouver the greenest city in N America. (he will have to go some to beat Portland)
You are going to be witness to the possibilities of New Age politics.
