|
|
It has been a long time since you started your cleaning business. Maybe you could still recall your first cleaning rate which was enough to give you an extra income to provide to your family. But now, maybe you had already created a niche in the cleaning business industry. Your customers are already established and you might be considering expanding your services.
When expanding your business, it would simultaneously grow and you will be needing more employees. Along with this is a significant increase in your expenses. When you were starting, you probably offered lower cleaning rates because you only wanted to establish your business name to attract regular customers. And now that you already have your loyal customers and they are already accustomed to your cleaning service offerings, you may want to increase your cleaning rate gradually.
Do not feel guilty when you increase your cleaning rate. Bear in mind that all kinds of businesses commonly increase their prices. Part of expanding your business is the increase in your expenditures which may double or triple. So in order to cope with your expenses, you have to increase your prices to generate profit for your cleaning business.
Before you increase the price of your service, you have to first compute your current charges or expenditures for all the types of services you offer. You might lose some clients if you increase your price abruptly therefore avoid this. It is suggested that you increase it gradually.
Another important thing to consider in increasing the price is the satisfaction rate of your current customers. If customers are satisfied they would not be bothered even if you increase your rate. On the other hand if they are not satisfied you have to defer your price increase. This is because you might lose your customers and they would think you're just taking advantage of them.
After thinking hard about it and you found the perfect time to increase your price, inform your customers properly. You may send a letter or you can visit them to personally inform them about it. Sending a notice and flyers can be another option. You may also inform them in advance that the next time they need your service you would be charging higher rate. If you already established a good relationship with your customers, you can be frank about why you decided to increase your price. For sure, they would not complain as long as they are informed early.
If you increase your price, be sure to improve your work as well, so that they would still be satisfied and they would realize that it is worth the price increase.
But remember that there is a ceiling in increasing your price. Of course your main goal is still to earn profit but not too much profit to sacrifice your customer relation.
Even if you think that you have a reasonable price increase there would still be some who will not agree with you. They may decide to back out and look for a cheaper option. They are also like you who are scouting for better alternative. But, if they fail to find a better cleaning service provider, they will go back to you.
