Need a new name for group. It is too offensive at first sight. If you want to actually have people listen to you, and you want to do your best to change things so that people will see the ridiculousness of religion, then you must at least give yourself a chance to have a dialogue.
If on the otherhand, this is a social organization, and designed for the betterment of member egos, then i suggest you carry on with the name, and business as usual. |

Well Gavin as we live in the City of Corpus Christi the name is appropriate...if anything blame those who named the city the body of christ....we just play up the irony a bit |

Why is the name offensive? This is along the same line of discrimination and mistrust other minorities experience. If you have a problem with the word atheist, then that is your problem. It simply means someone who is not a theist. Or, someone who lacks a belief in any gods.
We are all born atheists.
Or is it because Corpus Christi Atheists is so funny when translated? Body of Christ Atheists has a nice ring to it as well. Hahaha. |

yeah we had the same line of reasoning which is why we ultimately decided to stick with CCAtheists. plus we get a good laugh from other non theists..lol...they actually get the irony of it all |
