Acanthite yoy have got me thinking I might see what kind of rocks and minerals I could find around hear. Of course there would be nothen to conpair to some of the photos you show us. They are great.

Kentucky seems to have some potential for mineral collecting.  There is a fluorspar district in western Kentucky with quite a few intersting minerals, one area that seems to yield a lot is called Cave in Rock, on the Illinois border.  Also I read that there are good geodes along the Green River.  Here is a page that might be interesting for you to look at.  Just click on the mineral localities near where you live.  Most mines listed are stone quarries and coal mines, but there are others:

acanthite that is a really neat page. It will take me a long time to give it a good looking over. I live in the south eastern part of the state, but I have been out in the Green River area. That is where Mammoth Cave is at. Evan took the wife on a boat ride down the Green River.
