I have been detecting since 1989.
Started with a Bud Lite, okay, nothing special.
Since then A White's Eagle SL-2, then the XLT (went thru 3 of them) now the DFX.
I really like the DFX.
Not as exacting on the target id as the XLT, but deeper and more finds.

Nothing great in the past few months, but I have accumulated a nice bunch of silver jewelry over the years and a nice group of gold rings and other gold items (chains, charms, bracelets, etc.)

Not much as far as silver coins anymore, my best day, in the beginning, was 13 pieces of silver coin.

Anyone ever find any good stuff?

I've got a bounty hunter as well.
Haven't been out much since I got it though. Pretty much just found trash on my parents' property. At least I cleaned it up a little though. I'm hopefull about future expeditions though. I have an invitation to go some time with my 2 borther-in-laws who are veteran detectors down around Jefferson City. Those guys can probably teach me a thing or two.

Just be patient, in the beginning if you find anything, it is called beginners luck.
later it is called experience.
But, your coil still has to go over the item to find it.
Take you time and be patient.

Been there done that, especially with the first gold ring that I ever found.
I wanted to continue until it was dark and then some.

It doesn't have to be raining.
After the rain, usually a day or so after, the ground soaks up the water and it goes deeper.
As the moisture is absorbed, the deeper coins are moistened, and will give off better signals.
A good way to find those deeper coins, and silver.

Hmm, this metal detecting thing sure sounds fun. I think my dad has an okay detector(or better) in the gargage somewhere. I ought to try it out sometime.

friday night and last night was a huge firework display at a park about 4 miles from my house. i'm guessing over 5,000 people were there. they had a band, and carnival set up. today me and my mom went out there to see what i could find. i detected where the carnival was, only a quarter that was deep in the ground, and a 2007 cent.  Confused  went to the playground, nothing. Crying or Very sad  went to where the band was playing, nothing Crying or Very sad . went over where the concessions were, nothing. Crying or Very sad  finally got fed up and headed over to the swings. detected there, 3 cents. Confused  finally, we went to another park. only fou nd 1 quarter. Confused  o well, i still had fun. i think someone beat me there and found all the coins. Twisted Evil

Nope, no one beat you there and found them all.
They only found the easy ones, you have to slow down to find the older, deeper ones.
