Steve, those are very nice.Don Brash actually became Governor of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand in 1989,not 1988.

The Bahamian $3 note, like the 50c.,is one that eludes me.Fortunately,I have both issues of the Chatham Islands $3 note,& the various issues of the Cook Islands $3 note.

Aidan.

Aidan,

If you're after the Bahamas notes:

http://cgi.ebay.ca/LOT-14-BAHAMAS-5-3-1-0-50-BANK-NOTES-1965-1968_W0QQitemZ110156055502QQihZ001QQcat egoryZ3431QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I just bought some coins from her on Tuesday and they arrived this morning.  I just happened to remember that she had those notes for sale, too.

Chris, you'd better bid on those notes from the Bahamas. If you do get them,I could possibly get a few US$ from work to offload.I have got the $1 notes dated 2001 & 2002.The 2001 issue caused a real uproar,as it was decided to put portraits of politicians on the notes in 2001,but in 2002,the decision was sensibly reversed.

Another 2 countries whose notes are extremely elusive to me are Belize & British Honduras.I have got a $2 dated 2003,& a $1 dated 1987.

Aidan this is directly taken from the Reserve Bank's own web site and it says he was Gov from 1988 ! I can only go with the info given by the people who employed him give out!

Dr. Donald Brash was born in Wanganui and educated in Christchurch completing a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Canterbury University with a double major in economics and history.

While working for the Reserve Bank of New Zealand in 1962, Dr. Brash obtained his Master of Arts degree with first class honours, majoring in economics. His thesis was on New Zealand's external debt servicing capacity.

Subsequently, Dr. Brash obtained a PhD in economics from the Australian National University.

Dr. Brash had previously served with the Reserve Bank of New Zealand (1961-62); the World Bank (1966-71), Broadbank/Fletcher Challenge (1971-82), the New Zealand Kiwifruit Authority (1982-1986), and was Managing Director of the Trust Bank group (1986-8Cool before being appointed as Governor of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand in 1988.

Dr. Brash resigned from his position as Governor on 26th April 2002
to stand as a list candidate for Member of Parliament in the General Election held on 27th July 2002.

Steve, the catalogues give the date that Don Brash's signature as first appearing on notes in 1989,which is when I first got $1 & $2 notes bearing his signature in change. These were pulled from circulation in late 1991,a few months after the introduction of the $1 & $2 coins.

Steve, can't you create country tags on Banknotebank? If you could, you could place the banknotes from Northern Ireland under the name of that country instead of being under 'Ireland'.

Steve,I have had a look at Banknotebank & Omnicoin to see how user friendly it is.To me,it is user friendly only for those who are selling, not collecting.

There's a thread in the General Discussion section that will be right up your street. It is about a campaign for O.S. numismatic software.

Aidan.

Steve, you have got a very unusual fascination with Montserratian banknotes. How do you manage to get them? We get in the odd St. Lucian one.I have got 1 from Antigua,1 from Grenada,1 from St. Lucia,1 from St. Vincent,& a Montserratian $20 with the letter 'M' in a circle.

I don't know of anyone who has been to the West Indies in the last few years.
