One more to add to the Japanese occupation of the Phillipines collection & this one is handstamped JAPWANCAP a first for me . It stands for 'JAPANESE WAR NOTES CLAIMANT
ASSOCIATION of the PHILIPPINES' an organisation who initially had hoped that with the reparations from Japan that they could trade these funds in for new money. When this failed the association sued the American Government for some hard currency in exchange for these JIM. But as this too was not successful. At least 8 different counterstamps have been identified with a number of sub-varieties & a few with ink color varieties

have added the following three notes to the collection Ok so the Expo notes are not realy banknotes but I do like them LOL any info on them would be appreciated, also the $2 is interesting as Sec Treasury Bernie Fraser went on to become Governor and got to sign the notes in that capacity as well

Those World Expo notes are a bit ugly, but they were from the 80s LOL. They are very interesting for their concept alone. I wouldn't mind knowing more about them as well. |
