|
|
In my case,I have been collecting Irish Euro coins.On Friday,I picked up the 2003 2 & 10 Euro-Cents.Today,I picked up the 2005 2 Euro-Cents & the 2006 5 & 10 Euro-Cents.
I will be collecting the Cypriot & Maltese Euro coins after they come out,as they will be extremely popular with the real serious hard-core British Commonwealth coin collectors like myself.

I collect the Euros as well, but only one of each KM#. Looks like I'll have to collect them all again now that they are changing the map on the common side. I still have to get the commemorative coins, but I've got someone working on that for me. I'll have to get my hands on a set of the Maltese and Cypriot Euros when they become available.
Aidan, are you trying to collect one of each year? edited |

Chris,I am collecting the Irish Euro coins by date.I have got both the 2002 & 2007 coins, including the Treaty of Rome commemorative 2 Euros.
The mintage figures for the Irish Euro coins from 2004 onwards are quite low.
You will have trouble getting the Euro coins from Monaco,San Marino,& the Vatican City,as the mintage figures are quite low.

And most of those were only released in mint sets. I don't have any from those three, although I have all sets of all 13 countries so far. Next step is getting some of the commemoratives (not just the ToR), and I've got someone working on that for me as we speak. My parents are heading to Finland next month, so I'll ask them to be on the lookout for any commemoratives in their change. |

I"ve never seen Euros first hand, but my son will be branging me some when he gets back home next year sometime. I'm hopping for some paper also. Maybe some one could show us some in the mean time. I do have an old Irish penney some place, used to carry it for luck. I know better these days. |

Chris,I have got an Irish 2005 20 Euro-Cents coming on its way - from the Netherlands,of all places!
I am really looking forward to getting the Cypriot & the Maltese Euro coins from 2008.

I like the designs of the Maltese Euros. I would put them up there with the Slovenian Euros as my personal favourite designs. |

Chris, that Euro coin website link that you posted is very out of date.
What is described as the common obverse is really the common reverse.
If you are collecting the Treaty of Rome commemorative 2 Euro coins, you will actually find the Irish one hard to find,as they were snapped up almost as soon as they were issued.
Here's a reason why; http://www.euro-auflagen.de/index.php?lang=eng .

Aidan, I realize that, but it is a good (and large) picture of both sides of the Euro, and laid out very nicely to see them all in one shot. I picked it for that reason alone. Otherwise, you are right, there are much more accurate sites out there.
The Slovenian ToR are going for a ridiculous premium as well. I think there are a few coins I just have to miss out on. Maybe someday, I'll revisit them, but I think there are enough other coins I don't have yet, that I'll be able to keep myself busy. |
