Most collectors I know keep away from the Anthony Dollars for different reasons. I myself, love this set. Most collectors think the Susan B Anthony is the ugliest coin ever produced. What do you guys think ?

I've got one set from circulation.  That's enough for me.  It's relatively easy to collect as it is a short set, and like you pointed out, most people keep away from it.

High grade Susan B Anthony Dollars can be found in Mint sovenir sets. The 1981 set is hard to find, and if you do find one, expect to pay around $50.00 for it. The 81 type 2 Clear S proof is the key to this set. High Dollar coin.

I have a few, but don't collect them. I don't know why I just don't like them much.

I kind of like the coin. I really like the ideal of a dollar coin. I did have a lot of them but used them to feed the Bull Dog when I first got disabled. I have some now but just never picked them up again. Maybe some day.

I don’t know why they get such a bad wrap, I too like the Susan B’s. Personally I think the standard Jefferson nickel is the worst. To me it’s so bland and uninspired. Especially the Monticello reverse. It looks like something out of one of my daughter's coloring books. Smile

Smoothbore, I can't hardley belive you said such a thing about the Jefferson. That is my very favorite of all coins. I would rather look at nickels than eney other U.S. coin. I guess that is why all coins don't look alike. I do like the Susan B. also just don't tell eney one.

I also like the Jefferson nickel. Well, not a whole lot, but its probably my favorite coin thats still being minted in America. I think the Roosevelt dime is kinda bad. In fact, I was trying to sell some MS-66 silver rosies at a coin show yesterday, an NO ONE wanted them.

I pull SBA's from circulation and will eventually have them all, I suppose I feel the same about them as about the various coins with heads of presidents being discussed and disgusted in this thread.  They're all OK, but I place them on a tier below the previous designs.  I like the idea that they did the SBA, but can't say I'm really taken with the image itself.  The SAC, however, I like very much.

I hope I didn't offend you. Your right about that. that's what I love about coin collecting. Everyone has his or her favorites and why. One thing about the nickel, I DO love the "Westward Journey" series. The new Jefferson portrait is so striking. What do you think? Also a question, is the "06 Jefferson a part of the Westward? Or is it the new look? Or neither? Anyhow keep collecting those nickels.

No offense takeing Smoothbore. I really enjoy a good lively talk about different typs of coins. I also like the Westward Journery series but I'm not sure about the 06 look. I think it is going to be the look  for the Jefferson for now. To me its kind of takeing a photo of Grandpal and modernize him. It just ant Grandpal. Maybe it will grow on me in time.

I do not collect them either. For me, it is that they do not have any intrinsic value and so many of them out there. I like to collect circulation coins that ocassionally turn up a rare find. Like an old 1920's penny or a silver dime.  That is what makes it fun for me. Every once in a while you hit a gold mine. But the Susan B's are so common.

I have collected the entire set awhile back, but I lost intrest in them. I don't think they will ever be worth much. Sort of like bags of state quarters, I started buying them when they first came out, but I don't think I will be able to sell them for more then I got them at the mint

I was speaking to a coin dealer about the state quarters yesterday.  The concensus was that other than the varieties (which these days are recognized within weeks and instantly command premiums), that in general it will be nearly impossible to expect them to be any sort of 'investment' coin.
