My daughter came by with a coin today and wonted to know what it was. She said if any one could find out what it was her daddy could.( she is really smart as you can tell). So I told her that I knew some people who would know what any coin in the world is. Yes that strange nosie you are hearing about now is the sound of heads swealing all over the fourm . Enugh wind back to the coin.
Sorry no photos Sad On thr Obverse across the top it has 25 De Mayo across the bottom it has 1810-1960 in the middle it has a very large bulding like a capital
On the reverse it says Republica Argentina around the top at the bottom it says Un Peso in the middle it has what look like a reef with maybe the sun on top of it 2 hands shakeing and holding a poll with a boggon on top of it.
What can someone tell me about this? What would it be in U.S. like a quarter or what? Almost forgot most inportien part. It is just a lettle larger than Washington quarter. Maybe 26 or 27m.m. If it were a quarter I would say it is about EF40 maybe higher. It is in pertty good shape.
Does it have any real value. You just know she will ask me that.
Thanks

David, if she wants to know a bit more about the symbolism of the coin, the reverse you described is the current coat of arms of Argentina.  The sun rising symbolizes the 'rising nation of Argentina' from colonial domination, the shaking hands symbolize the cooperation of the different provinces, the pole is power to defend freedom, and the Phrygian cap utop it symbolizes liberty (as it does on older US coins).
