Is it an error if a washington quarter and a kennedy half dollar has a smooth edge? |

If the smooth edge were somehow generated during the minting process, then yes. I haven't heard of such a thing, but I don't do a lot with varieties. However, I can easily see the edge being smoothed post-mint, intentionally for whatever reason, in which case it would not be a variety/error, just damage. |

if the coin has been used in a slot machine at a casino, it usually has a smooth edge becuase it just wore off hitting other coins. vending machines also do that to coins. |
