I have here a 1984 S Barber Half Dollar with a Lamination error and in MHO I think it ruined the coin. What do you guy's think. Very Happy daffy

I sure don't think it is ruined. If someone were putting togather an uncirculated set they would not want it. But for most of us coins of that age are so hard to come by we would be glade to have it.

Hey David, Man you would have to have some serious cash to put a set of Barber Halfs together. I would just love to have a set in fine condition with some good ol natural toneing.  I would love to have a set that looks like this 1911. Very Happy  daffy

I've never really liked the face on Barber coinage. I mean, is that a dude on the front or what??? Besides that though, I like the over-all design.
Being a half dollar lover, I'd like to put together a Barber half set. But that is quite a difficult task, intimmidating even. For right now though, Walkers are hard enough on my budget.

I know what you are talking about Adam. Like I said in another post, I have watched Mint sets triple in price in just 10 years. If you want to put together a high grade set, you best take out a second mortgage on the home or have a Gold Mine .  I'm having to go VF-XF on my Walkers to cut cost also. best, daffy Very Happy

Hisss! Its forbidden to knock Barbers.  Who cares if its a cross-gender type on the front?  I have to say something since Treashunt hasn't been around to defend them.

Trying to put together a set of quarters or halves is really tough these days, even the dimes are getting scarcer in VF and above.  I go into coin shops and they tell me that dealers come in and clean them out of everything above G, all at once.  I really have enjoyed assembling the dimes, though, it has given me a lot of appreciation of the design.  The quarters are going to take me....years and years.  Halves?  Maybe next lifetime.

LOL. Sorry acanthite. I haven't seen Frank around lately. If I had I would never have dared to talk bad about the Barbers!
hehe
Like I said though, overall I like the coins. The obverse just confuses me Smile
