Below is a specimen of anglesite crystals (PbSO4 - lead sulfate), some with near double terminations (where both ends of the crystal have faces, rather than one or both ends buried in the surrounding rock). It comes from the Tsumeb mine, located in northern Namibia. I bought it from another mineral collector in Johannesburg. The color of this specimen is very specific to the part of the mine from which it was taken (an anglesite 'variety' if you will).

Thanks, I'm glad you guys find it interesting. By the way, I can't convey with a picture how heavy it is, but if you pick it up you know right away something is up with the density (lots of lead). |

Does it look that way naturally or has it been cleaned up some way? |

Those are the natural surfaces. It may have had some dust on it from the underground blasting that opened up the void where it was growing. Thus it may have been sprayed with water. |

years ago when I was working under ground in the coal mine we would sometimes find things, but nothing like that. |
