Just looking over my current Numismatic News and found an interesting read on how folks turned up their noses at new coin designs. The 1856 Flying Eagle was nicknamed "Buzzard Cent" daffy _________________ A nickel ain't worth a dime anymore.

Yes, I read about that as well, the design didn't last long (however I think that had more to do with the problems with the design not striking well). I think its one of the best US coins! I also read that the Indian Head cent was immediately liked by the public. |
