A set, a type set, gathering alot of different countries, ancients, or anything else? What are you working on? I'm working on my set of walkers. On the side I'm trying to pick up some ancients, bust halves, and type coins. Also state quarters and jefferson nickels from circulation. What are you working on? _________________ -Adam |

I'm currently working on some uncleaned ancients I bought and searching through a HUGE jug (about 60 lbs. worth) of Lincolns that my Mom and Dad had been saving since the 70's. So far I've found 21 wheaties, a couple of 1998 "wide AM's", 7 Canadians and one Great Britain "New Penny" and a coffee can full of pre-1982's that I'm putting up for my kids. That's about it for me. After I bought the ancients my coin budget was gone for the foreseeable future. May try some roll searching if I ever get done with all these pennies. _________________ Andy |

I'm fairly active in IHC and Barber dimes, hope to finish a set of the latter this year. Otherwise not spending much on coins, just reading about them. Will take part in some auctions this year for Spanish colonial reales, but they are a bit pricy so will not get many. |

Just curious- is there a better auction site for Spanish Colonial reales than e-Bay? I don't have any designs on purchasing any more- I just like looking at them.

The best place to drool over these coins is Heritage. If you sign up (free), you can access the auction archives. Most of what they have is higher grade, so you really get a feel for the details.

Another site that has reales for sale now and then:

As you already know, eBay is a difficult place to buy reales. I routinely do searches on the pillar dollars and I would say over half are fakes. Those are only the ones I can see well, others I can't evaluate due to photo clarity or are simply beyond my ability to detect.
This site has reales, not for sale, but good photos:
