Welcome. Thats the way most of us got started. It's a lot faster and cheaper to be able to just ask. Have fun. |

Do to my remote area there is not even a quality coin shop within hours of me. I have thought of purchasing some coins off of ebay. I have all the proof sets since 1956 to date and every silver eagle but want to try maybe some quality lincolns or Jeffersons. Some of these, probably most, purchased from ebay. What do you think??? Does anyone know of a coin club up in the eastern UP of MI??? Any advice purchases online ebay or non ebay sources?? thanks |

If you go the ebay route, make sure you know what you're doing and BE Carefull. There are alot of good deals to be had on ebay, but there are alot of scammers too. I personally do all my buying at coin shows. I travel a couple hours to the St. Louis area to attend them several times a year and its well worth it. According to the "Events Calender" in Coinworld there is a show in Grand Rapids on May 31st, and one in the Detroit area on June 8th. It doesn't say how big they are, and since they only last one day I think they might be very small shows, so I don't know if that would be worth your time or not. If your interested I could give you the the phone number that is listed to call the organizer of the events. _________________ -Adam |

Thanks AdamL... I think I will pass on those phone number though but thanks for offering. Both of those places are 5-6 hrs away and not worth it if Iam only going for one day.. |

Hey Adam .. LIke I said Iam remote and that is my biggest downfall in regards to collecting/talking about coins. The nearest coin shop that I know of is approximately 3 hrs away. My buddy just called and one of his coworkers has about 20-25 morgans for sale. States I have first crack at them and can cherry pick if I wish and don't have to buy the whole collection. Also states maybe a gold coin or two for quote "Cheap". Will let you know how this works out, what I got and what I paid. This is the biggest news for my collection in a long time... |
