PIRANHA (1978)
Category: horror/thriller/creature attacks/sexual contents/crude languages
STORYLINE:
Two teenager trespassed a private property (pool) with "mutated" vicious piranhas in its pool. They got eaten so investigators were sent.
Few days later, they found the lead. So they (a blonde obtuse woman and a "outback" man) went to the property and questioned the owner. The investigators requested the owner to drain his pool to see if there were anything helpful. The owner refused and mumbled. Unfortunately, the investigator quickly maddened (plus they were barbaric and violent) that attacked the owner in the head; drained the pool.
Afterwards, these vicious piranha escaped to a lake and into a camp.
The terror of fish begins!
REVIEW:
The movie was pinny good and the acting of the movie was acceptable. About thirteen years ago, I watched this movie on late night television. I don't remember the movie so well after the first time but was interested in the concept of a “killer fish” . "Fish" that kills! Who wouldn't be interested? Although, the piranha attacks were just "fish" attacks but since piranhas' size were small; they attack in groups (which was normal).
The plot bothered me.
All these chaos in this movie were caused by the investigator. In the beginning of the movie, two teenagers trespassed into a pool. That part of the movie was believable; they were young teenagers and pools were always enjoyable. This second part of the movie was what aggravated me the most was when the two "brainless/barbaric" investigators went to the pool and demanded him to drain the pool. If I was the owner (caretaker) I would NOT drain my pool of mutated piranhas into the lake for bigger consequences and the owner stood the same point as me; he refused to drain the pool.
So, the investigator hit the owner in the head and went and pulled the lever to drain the pool. They couldn't wait for the whole explanation from the poor old owner before they pulled such an act. Then of course the piranhas got out and started attacking people.
OK, so these two people dragged the owner out to the lake to explain these piranhas. They saw a kid in the lake that was going to get attacked by the piranhas. And since the investigators made the owner’s subconscious felt responsible for the piranhas’ escape, he threw himself into the lake ( and of course he got eaten alive by these piranhas) and painfully but successfully saved the boy.
"I honestly haven't seen this cover before; it must be a forgein edition"
What was the moral of this story?
1.) Always listen to the warnings (from people or observations)
2.) Don't jump in a vicious animal infested water.
3.) If you already warn the people and they still continued their barbaric behavior: Do not sacrifice yourself it is NOT your fault!
"This cover look nothing like the movie! This looks modern"
Two out of Five Stars
RATE R (PG/PG 13 in some countries)
(This is how the movie is like or close to how the movie would be "except the fish is not as big and monsterious") |
