THE REVIEW:
Cover of a movie was very important, especially to the audience. The audience first impression of a movie was usually judged by the cover. Unfortunately the cover of this movie misguided a lot of audiences ; the cover contained the main character (the fourteen years old girl) in the middle of a metal trap. On the contrary (to the cover) though, the movie contained no metal trap and looked nothing like the movie.
When I first ordered this movie I didn't know anything about it. I like to take chances and surprised myself. Films/movies/plays were supposed to amused the audience and acted as an escape from our reality. That was one my principle that if the cover looked interesting enough I would give it a try. And judging by this cover it looked like the plot of the movie would be peculiar and interesting enough. This cover (style of artwork) reminded me of "Sublime" a production from Raw Feed (whom also produced "Rest Stop"). Nowadays, I found that there were a lot of movies like this. Usually the covers would be plain and has only one character (defacing the shot). But when you view these kind of movie; it was usually not what you have expected. Judging by a lot of “this kind” of cover it usually misguided the audience into thinking that this MUST be a horror movie or; but usually ended up as a physiological thriller or even just a twisted drama.
This movie started out with a computer chat, and the chat was peculiar. In a lot of movies, when the character used a chat on the computer it was usually a strange looking program. I personally had not seen a chat like that before, so I assumed that the program was made up. But if anyone actually used this program like ones in "Hard Candy" , drop me a line. I wanted to know what kind of program was it.
The way this movie was shoot was fantastic! It seemed like the frames of the movie was going twice as fast but focused. The movie almost looked like it was done mostly on a computer. Overall the film looked perfect, so “bravo” to the film crew of this movie.
So, after the photographer met the young girl. They went straight to his place and partied. The young girl ended up drugging the photographer and holding him in hostage in his own house. She seemed like she thought she was carrying a mission; which was to save innocent kids from pedophilia.
.
In the beginning the movie was realistic and believable to the audiences. The two main character met and partied and she drugged him and locked him in his house. Technically, that could happen. So the movie went on, she mainly lectured morality and principal to the photographer. And in the middle of the movie, she ended up fooling him that she was actually cutting off his testicles (which she wasn‘t). That was the confusing/unbelievable part, she actually got everything set up, a pretend "live" camera to show the photographer while she pretend to proceed hysterectomy on him. Well, the photographer was numb by the ice that was set on his testicle prior by the young girl, and plus he was already drugged up and had became disorientated. So, I guess he could have believed that his testicles were really cut off.
At the end, the ending was unrealistic and unbelievable. The photographer finally escaped and he was furious. He ran after the girl to revenge on her. Instead when they found each other and went on the roof, the girl somewhat called his ex-girlfriend to his apartment to tell her that he was a pedophilia. She convinced the photographer that she will tell his ex-girlfriend(whom he was assumedly still in-love with) the truth about him being the pedophilia and the easiest way to preserve his innocence was to kill himself for salvation.
At the end, the photographer hung himself and the girl walked free.
The end was UNREAL or near IMPOSSIBLE! No one would kill themselves due to embarrassment and serve humiliations , he could deny it or solve it in a reasonable way. The photographer must be extremely disoriented and depressed after his capture. And the young girl was VERY convincing and I assumed that was the main reason he killed himself. If he was sober and not disoriented; he would have call the police or drive to an ER.
This movie was overall good; the end was just lack of realism. The acting in this movie was superb and the camera work was almost perfect. And this film was definitely worth to see; it was peculiar, had interesting plots, kept audiences interest throughout the whole movie and the sound of the movie was very clear.
Go rent it!
Not a horror picture though.
