Film” Cloverfield (2008)
Category: Horror/Monster/Invasion/Thriller/Apocalypse
Contains: Gore/Apocalyptic images/Horror images/a lot of constant movement from the hand held camera
Special Notice: This film was filmed on a hand held camera which some viewers might find sickening.

Summary:
Suddenly, Manhattan was getting destroyed by an unknown creature the size of a high rise and no bombs or fire arms from the military was going to stop it.

Review:
Although this entire film was done in a first person narration and with a hand held camera. Quite like the style of “The Blair Witch Project” but a lot better in quality. In a lot of cases I disagrees with the use of  hand held cameras to film a feature film. But in this case, this technique has been use to its best advantage.  With the hand held camera it made the audience feel like they were viewing first hand in what was happening to Manhattan. This film was horrifying and tragically sad in so many different ways. The hand held camera follows three friends excluding the camera man “Hut” since he wasn‘t in most of the shots but only his voice was heard.

Where the monster came from was unknown; but the closet theory I have for it is this:

First everyone in the midtown and Manhattan felt a deep impact on the ground as if there was a earthquake; and the local news has reported that the oil station in the middle of the Manhattan sea has collapsed. So the monster must have came from the sky and crashed down to the oil station making a loud impact similar to the sound of a earth quake. Or it could have came from the deep ocean; but the theory where it came from the sky would make more sense since it looked like it was collapsed from the top instead of the bottom of the oil station. And the dynamites from the military wasn’t hurting the creature at all; as if its skin were burn proof. Also, there were sub-life creatures falling from the large host that looked like some large mutated spiders. My assumptions of the creatures’ reasons to attack  earth was that it was planned by a higher source and this creature was sent to wipe out the life on earth to prepare for the arrival of its own kind. The reasons was probably its own planet had ran out of its resources and needed a new place to live and breed. And since its breaths the same air as human does; earth would be a suitable habitat for their kind.

Although at the end of the movie, nothing was explained or resolved this was still a worth while film to see and think about.

Rated Five Stars
Rated R
**This film was unique and deserves a class of its own. A MUST SEE.”
