Alexei sighed at Mizuki's question. "I said two. Weren't you listening? That was the first thing I said -- that I had two older siblings who are both musicians and they're studying abroad -- one in Vienna, one in America."

And to Hachino's question, he wasn't sure which one he was supposed to answer. He may not have played it as well as Ruika (though she used to be a lot better) or Yuri, but he did know stuff like that; it was the basics and he remembered that in Jazz, they play the dominate seventh chords a lot. "Which one are you asking me? Which one do you want me to answer?"

Alexei sighed before continuing. "Fine, I'll answer both. With the first question, that's the first thing or one of the first things you learn about the piano. The answer's the middle C; of course... on pianos that have fewer keys, like any keyboard with only 61 keys, it tends to be a bit off center. The second question: geez, if I didn't know that, that'd be sad as it's one of the basics with piano and since I love Jazz so much, I should know that they play those a lot; they use it a lot in Rock and Roll and in Blues music too. Anywho, they're formed by combining the 1st, 3rd, 5th, and b7th tones of a major scale, the b7th meaning the 'flattened 7th.' I've heard more than one way as one of them doesn't include that b7th and with the fingers you use to play them... that depends on the player and which version, but it's recommended with the version that I said, the one that uses the 'b7th,' is that you use your thumb, pointer, middle, and pinky fingers on your right hand -- 1-3 and 5th consists of the thumb being first and pinky last. On the left, your pinky, middle, pointer, and thumb -- 1, 3-5 consists of pinky being the first and thumb being last."

Ruika was watching all this with an amused look on her face. She remembered learning this too when she had Yuri show her how to play the piano and like Alexei said, those were basics that any pianist, of any level should know.

Alex isn't dumb enough to say stuff about him that he couldn't back up; that's what makes finding out the lie, well.. half lie a lot harder. All are true, in some way, but like I thought before, only one is half true. Because I'm the only one who knows Alexei well, I know this one. I realize that one part could be in his profile that could easily be looked up, but it wasn't detailed enough to reveal all of that.

[[GEH! Super sorries! I've been working on this project that's worth my entire grade, so it's eaten up most of my time. Anyhow, I finished it, (99%! W00TZ) So I'll post now!]]

"Soooo, do you hate spicy foods but have a tolerance for it?" Mizuki asked, again, an entirely direct question.

"This is pointless." Kei sighed, "Novikov, you know the answer don't you? We're going in circle's- just answer the lie already."

"You didn't answer mine even though you knew the answer!"

"Yeah, but Mr. Too-Intelligent-For-You over there figured it out anyway, we're obviously not getting anywhere."

"Hm. I don't really know the answer to my question anyway. Whatever. I play a round, I'm leaving-"

"NO!!!" Mizuki cried, "YOU have to go once before you can go!"

Hachino-sensei heaved a heavy sigh and gave a suffering glare at Mizuki, "This is a waste of my time. Speed it up if you want me to go."

"Okay okay okay, which one's the lie Alex-chan?" Mizuki asked, all in one breath.

Kei blew on the edge of his nearly empty bottle of soda and the usual distinct ringing sound was heard. Seiji simply blinked, and Hachino-sensei sighed, but Mizuki shrieked, toppling over in her seat, yelling, "DON'T DO THAT!!"

Kei was highly amused at this point, and simply innocently took a sip of his soda. He had successfully shut Mizuki up.

((No prob, no prob. Razz Meh, mine's kinda blah-ish, but whatever~))

"Who are you referring to? Alex and I HAVE the same last name. We ARE related..." Ruika commented boredly while still doodling on her napkin.

"Probably me, Ruika. As if I didn't know my own lie, that's just stupid. " Alexei turned and faced everyone else before he spoke again.

"I'll tell you what my lie is, so we can keep on moving. It's the first one. While I DO have two older siblings and they ARE studying abroad in Vienna and America, my older brother wants virtually nothing to do with music, so he wants to be a doctor; my sister, though she plays well, wants to be a conductor and perhaps a composer. And Mizuki, to answer your question... I've had spicy food before, but I hate it because it tastes like cardboard to me. That's how high of a tolerance I have towards it. Put it this way, the spicier it's supposed to be, the blander it tastes."

I really don't care if you know this stuff anyway as it doesn't really affect me and it's not like I'm revealing something that's really dark or anything. Like in hell I'd do something as stupid as that, ESPECIALLY in front of people who I BARELY know.

Alexei wasn't sure what to do as no one got it right. He figured that people would overlook the first one as their family is mainly composed of musicians, but it's not the obvious one that people would think that everyone was into music. Funny, his brother used to like music, but he completely hates it now. He's not sure if it had anything to do with Ruika or what, but it's been over five years since he's touched his trombone. It was still sitting in his room, collecting dust in the closet.

"I don't really care who goes next, so you guys pick. Better if it's someone who hasn't gone yet." Which would be Kei-san, Ruika, Hachino-sensei, and Haruka-san. He finished that sentence in his head.

"KAY. I'm outta here, so here's mine. I direct the band, I'm not your teacher, and I'm your teacher." Hachino-sensei said standing up, "I feel sorry for the loser who couldn't figure that one out."

Mizuki, Kei, and Seiji all sweatdropped. What an obvious lie.

"To save my intellect, I'm not even going to bother to answer you."

"Wise decision. I'm leaving." And with that, Hachino-sensei left in a flash.

"YOUR TURN KEI-CHAN!"

Kei sighed and leaned on his chin. If the smart-pants over there wanted to make everything insanely difficult, then so be it.

"Hmm, other then Mizuki, my family has nothing to do with the music or entertainment business. I don't like playing my own music, and I've only gotten first place at anything once before, and that was in a soccer tournament when I was in like, what? Third grade?"

Mizuki nodded with a serious air, "Kei-chan is pretty pathetic."

"Mizuki, however, has never won first place in any kind of-" Kei started but one good death glare from the girl who's green eyes suddenly turned blood red shut him up.

When they heard Hachino's comments, they were a bit shocked and sweatdropped. They knew he was bored, but gee... Wow, that was just... TOO obvious~ Thought Ruika and Alexei in unison.

Alexei took a napkin from the table, snatched Ruika's pen out of her hand, and wrote something on it. "Hey..." mumbled a slightly annoyed Ruika, "What's the big idea?"

Alexei didn't respond, but handed the napkin, which was now folded, and pen back to her. When she opened it, she noticed that he wrote something on it.. and that something was in Russian.

Ruika, you haven't gone yet, why don't you try guessing. I'm curious what YOU plan on saying. Everyone knows about how you almost died, but of course... they don't know what lead to it... Razz

Ruika may have been fluent, speaking-wise, but not quite with writing and reading; she could read general things, but not long books and such like Alexei could. She was a little annoyed that he wrote in Russian, but at least she could read it and when she did, she got pissed. She scribbled a message back and threw the paper back at him. When Alexei uncrumpled it, the paper read in really rough handwriting, not in her usual neat writing:

Cram it. I don't need to hear it from you. If it'll make you SHUT UP, then fine! You always WANT to piss me off, Alyosha*.

A slight smirk appeared on Alexei's emotionless face before quickly writing something on it and passing it back to Ruika.

Wow, you NEVER call me that. Dad's just too lazy to, same with Ilya, which leaves Mom, who's the only one in our house that calls me that. Now that I think about it... you only call me that when we're talking/writing in Russian and you're pissed off at me, which is kind of funny. You're amusing, yet you get on my nerves, Ru-i-ka.

Ruika didn't bother with replying back to Alexei; they would just end up in ANOTHER argument, so she didn't want to deal with it. When she heard Kei's statements, she thought about them.

Hm, I don't know anything about his background, so this might not be so simple. The first one's probably not the lie since if his family was into music, I probably would have heard of them in that case. Hm... so that leaves the other two...

"Kei-san, when you say your own music, you mean stuff that you compose yourself or stuff that you yourself want to play, like you only play stuff that others WANT to hear you play?" Ruika said in a calm, yet stern tone.

((*Alyosha is an affectionate nickname for Alexei. Kinda funny considering how cloudy their relationship is and how it seems they get along just as well as a cat and dog [in a normal case]. XP As Ruika's name isn't Russian, or an actual name, there isn't a nickname for it. Maybe I should make one up. XD; ))

“Music I compose myself.” Kei replied flatly, while Mizuki stayed silent, eyeing the bottle with great disdain. The fog horn sound was one of Mizuki’s greatest pet peeve’s.

“What do your parents do for a living?” Seiji asked, referring to the first one.

“My father is the corporate president of a large technology company and my mother runs a dress store in town.” Kei was reluctant to reply, as he wasn’t exactly one who liked to share his family information. But it was better then his personal information.

“Really??” Seiji said, grinning brightly, “Is it near my family’s bookstore??”

“No.” Kei sighed, “It’s in the upper town.”

Seiji deflated. Upper town was where everything was ten times the price it should’ve been, where luxuries were normal and normal was trash. The opposite of ‘downtown’, where Seiji’s family’s shop could be located. Kei found it absurd to even see a family like Seiji’s in upper town.

“Keep going.” Kei said, bored, and even less amused now that he was the one getting berated for answers.

"Ah, so I see." was Ruika's short, unenthuestic reply.

When Ruika heard Kei's answer to Seiji's question, she thought about what he said. She had been in that part of town, besides shopping anyway, but she did notice the many lavish and expensive stores though. She lived on the very far end on that side of the town, where a majority of the weathly lived and where most of the mansions were. Her house in particular was a bit larger than the others and had a lot more land, hence why she lived in a bit more of the secluded area of that part of town.

What to ask... no wonder I find this game pointless... I don't know what to ask...

((Wow, so short. XD; I really can't of anything to say.... XP))

OOC: I’m uberly sorry about not posting for so long. I have too many things on my schedule. X_X The good news is, though, Spring Break is just around the corner! I’ll be able to post more then. =D

As silence filled the air, Haruka sighed. At least she was learning a little about every person in the room. Tapping her fingers lightly on her lap, she decided to say something as well.

“Don’t tell me you really don’t like playing your own music. I don’t understand why you don’t like playing music produced by yourself,” she shrugged, “it makes composing them in the first place seem pointless to me.” He should always have confidence in himself. Shaking her head, she looked at the clock. Wow, that spent a lot of time playing the game already. How time flew.

She thought for a second. “Huh…if you only won in one competition and that’s in soccer, why would you be in the concours in the first place? You must’ve won first place or something in some music competition to get in. If not, I will seriously wonder why you’re here.” She was sure she was correct, if she was wrong, she would definitely take Kei off her list of rivals. But there was no way he could’ve gotten in if his musical ability didn’t earn him an award.

Since it wasn't his turn anymore, Alexei didn't really feel the need to keep paying attention, and yet.. he still only had one of earpieces in his ear. When he heard Haruka's comment, it made Alexei think a little.

That's a good point, I'll have to admit. I've been in competitions, though I don't find them enjoyable, well classical ones anyway. Sure, I may not have ever beat Ruika, but even I have one first in several competitions. They were all Jazz ones though...

"Haruka-san has a point. It would be just a waste of time if you're not even going to play something that you've written, even once. You don't even have to play it in public, but still... In anything else, how bad could you be? Seriously? That really can't be the ONLY thing you've placed first in, is it?" Ruika paused for a moment before continuing in a more soft, gentle tone. "Of course, even if you've won many music competitions, like I have, competitions only show just one side of your talent, well most do anyway."

Hence why I'm not fond of them either... Winning every competition just gets boring, which is why I haven't been in a competition in at least three years... Performing on my own and in concerts is a lot more fun, I think, but if I have to be in a competition, I just have to make the best of it and try to enjoy it. I dunno... I'm odd like that...

"I'll take it that's your guess." Kei sighed, glancing at Asazaki, "Well, I haven't won first in anything, and I'm not interested in being apart of the concur's."

Mizuki thus began her usual speech on people she knew a lot about, "Kei-chan does not play soccer- he prefer's tennis and in on the Regular Department's Track Team. He has never won anything more or anything less then second place, and our family discourage's Kei-chan from studying music because it is not a respectable profession, and they believe that he should study business like our Aniki. The only reason they insist on Kei participating in the concur's is because this is the first competition Kei has taken part in for half a decade, and they hope that he wins so that he has a good elective to add to his college resume."

"Thanks for the life story Mizuki, it was well appreciated." Kei snapped sarcastically, twirling his now empty soda bottle between his fingers. Seeing the bottle, Mizuki quieted and ceased the story, "It's your turn Asazaki."

OOC: After this and Ruika's, let's uh, skip to the first concur's, no? xD;

Haruka frowned. Huh…so he really never won an award for playing his instrument before? If so, then how did he end up in the concours? This didn’t make any sense to her but she decided to push that aside anyway. She definitely did not have to worry about him anymore. I guess I over estimated him.

“Alright, I guess I’ll go. One, I can cook something nice. Two, I treasure myself the most, everyone else comes second. Three, I am a very confident person,” Haruka stated. She crossed her legs and waited for anyone’s reply.

OOC: Very short~

((Yeah, indeed, indeed~ ^^))

Ruika didn't care too much whether Kei had won music competitions, as not everyone competes because they want to, though of course, people like that were a LOT harder to predict. At the same time, his talent's questionable too... This could mean one of two things -- he HAS talent, but rather not show it, or he doesn't. Which is it? If he got into the concours, he must have some talent...

As she heard Haruka's statements, Ruika knew she could knock one right off the bat. The third one's DEFINITELY not the lie; already know that one for a fact. Leaves the other two...

"Haruka-san, what exactly can you cook as you say that you can cook something nice, but that's really~ vague?"

((Meh, mine's short too~ XD; ))

"The first one is the lie, I honestly have no doubts whatsoever." Kei replied flatly.

Mizuki held back a snort of laughter and quickly said, "That was really mean Kei-chan!"

"Well, like Ruika, I don't have any kind of doubts that she's not confident. To be honest, she's annoyingly confident. And who decide's to wear a white dress with diamonds to a park unless they're just overindulging themselves? The first one is the lie- and if it's not, she's just going off and telling us another lie."

Seiji sweatdropped, "You're brutally honest about your opinions, Futari-senpai."

"Brutal, but honest." Kei replied blandly.

OOC: Kei's so mean!! xDD

((Indeed. Razz))

Something that Kei said triggered something in Ruika's mind. Haruka, though she acts like this, there had to have been at least one person that she cared about other than herself. Of course, if she was wrong, she had nothing else to say.

"As much as I'd like to agree with Kei-san," she sighed before continuing, "I have a feeling that it's the second one, because seriously... there has to ONE person that you care about other than yourself, but if not, then... what else is there to say? There is that spoiled brat attitude though..."

Ruika didn't say anything else as Alexei tapped her on the shoulder and handed her a note. Like their last note passing, it was in Russian. This time it said:

I think Kei-san's right on this one. Someone like that, with THAT kind of attitude.. why WOULD they care about someone else? And by the way... on the slight chance that you're right, what are you going to say?

Ruika turned towards him for a moment and shrugged at him before turning back and facing Haruka and the others again.

How am I supposed to know...? I'll probably just wing it or something...
