Sorry for posting another topic, but I have a question about the song Hino played in the 1st selection.
There have been too many titles out there...
Wakare no Kyoku (heard this spoken in the anime)
Tristesse (the subtitle given in the anime version I watched)
La chanson d'adieu ("song of farewell")
Loath to Depart (in the manga translation?)
and then it's also known as some Etude (saw that somewhere too, but forgot the number and key of the piece)...
I'm inclined to think La chanson d'adieu is the real title? |

The real thing is Chopin's Etude Opus 10 number 3 in E. But like a lot of Chopin's stuff it was given a nickname. "Tristesse" is the nickname given to this particular piece. But over in Japan they call it "Wakare no Kyoku" (lit. Song of Parting) which is where the manga translated the title, 'Loath to Depart' from. 'La chanson d'adieu' (song of farewell), is probably the French(?) translation given.
Mind you I've never liked the manga translations, I mean, "Loath to Depart"?? And how they make Hino say "crap, this sucks" buuut that's for a different topic, heheh.
["tristesse" is 'sadness' in French]
Anywho, the original is from Chopin's set of Etudes op 10 no 3. On a side note, Chopin himself didn't really nickname his pieces, other people have through history.
Hope this helps~ _________________

agrees with charcol~ =] that is the real name. there are different names to it because of the translations. other than that it is all still the same name. =] _________________

Ooohh...wow, I'm learning a lot^^ hehe now I sorta know some background about that song...I really loved that song the time I heard it...it just really makes me wanna cry, cause I'm so touched... so now I know it's called Sadness...hmm...I wonder why Chopin named it that, was it related to his experience? hehe now I'll keep that in mind while I play that on piano^^
Thanks very much for sharing this info! |
