· Quote

(Hahaha, no it's not Death Note, sorry folks.)

Status: Accepting Characters, RP Closed for posting

Characters:

Futari Mizuki - Class 1-A - Music Department - Harp
Ruika Novikov - Class 2-A - Music Department - Violin
Futari Kei - Class 3-B - Regular Department - Piccolo
Asazaki Haruka - Class 3-B - Music Department - Clarinet
Alexei Novikov - Class 2-B - Music Department - Viola
Lin Seiji - Class 2-B - Music Department - Piano

    Instructor:

    Name: Fuukoku Hachino
    Age: 25
    Eye Color: Hazel
Hair Color: Dirty Blonde with Platinum highlights
    Height: 6’2”
Instrument(s) Played (if any): All Band Instruments, and Percussion
Class and Grade: Teaches Class 3-A and directs the Band (Which is why he can play such a variety.)

Personality: Hachino-sensei acts about 10 years younger then he really is, and he looks around that age as well. However, his indifference makes him seem aloof and selfish- and maybe he’s selfish, but he’s far from aloof. His favorite word is, “Whatever” and he says it all the time. Hachino dislikes the sound of string instruments, and claims that he has a record of not touching a violin, viola, cello, or contrabass for at least 4 years. He doesn’t like playing in front of or for other people, and hates being judged. The only way to piss off this laid-back and completely oblivious man is by criticising the music he plays, or even hearing it. He refuses to even demonstrate proper tone quality for his students, and finds the whole ‘concur’ idea a load of bullshit.

Bio: Hachino has always liked playing music, but finds string instruments to be lame and useless instruments, which is why he won’t have anything to do with the orchestra, and finds it hard to connect with his string instrument students. But in fact, the main reason he hates string instruments is because he can’t make a sound on them. Nothing but a scratchy squeak that isn’t even a note. He was poked fun at for this fact by his friends and the girl of his dreams, who ended up being a master violinist. He’s known as the ‘devil conductor’ because he settles for nothing but perfect with the band, and often avoids the other teachers because they’re “too stiff”.

Scenario: Years after the events of La Corda D'Oro, it's time for the concours to take place yet again. Your character will have been selected to participate, be it for Lili, the meddlesome Fata, or for your own skills in music. It's the perfect opportunity to meet some new friends- Or, maybe you'll meet some new enemies? Either way, good luck!

Place/Time: Two weeks before the concours, starting point, Seiso Academy. There is no limit on the places you are allowed to go after school, however.

Note: This is an ENTIRELY OC RP. That means, I don't want any canon character's. :/

Because this forum is rather small at the moment, as many characters as you can play are allowed. I will be the judge of how many characters you can handle. At first, you will only be allowed to play one character, but if I say it's alright, you may play 2, and so on.

I have a limit of 6 people participating in the concours. (No, not seven like the anime.) And people don't count as number of roleplayers, I mean the number of characters. ^^

MINIMUM POST LENGTH: I will accept NOTHING less then a paragraph which I consider is four legitimite lines. So if you can't meet that (minimal) minimum, then I suggest you don't join, lest I bite your butt off. ^^

EDITZ: Okay, since I'm impatient, if nobody else put's up an OC by the end of today, you can start to RP today. Because we're beginning about two weeks beforehand, we can just bide our time and hang around until we have 6 people.

Literate people only, if you can't write out 'you', and insist on putting 'u', then don't join. No asterisk RP'ing, like *dances with so-and-so* Just type it out.

((Well, guess you're impatient; heh, I am too. Razz Guess I'll start the RP off then.))

Alexei liked the rooftop of the school as very few people knew about it and the ones that did rarely came up there, hence it was pretty quiet. He was reading another book in Russian; this time on the Russian Revolution. He didn't always read books in Russian, nor was he an avid reader, but he had nothing better to do; he was only reading it as research for a paper in his History class.

He was hoping it'd stay quiet as the reason he came up here in the first place was because of his cousin, Ruika, returning from traveling overseas for the past three years with his parents. Talk about her was going around the Music Department and it was irritating him. Unfortunately for him, the silence didn't last.

"Yo, Alex!"

Raising his eyes off the book he was reading, he took a quick glance at the person who greeted him before lowering his eyes towards the book once again. It was none other than his best friend, Takuya Suzuki.

"Hi."

Takuya was confused and a little annoyed with his response. He brushed it off though and slightly grinned. "Heh~? Is that the way you greet your best friend, Alex?"

"Apparently so." Was his blunt and bored tone.

Takuya sighed and sat down next to him. "Alex, with Ruika back after... what has it been... two, three years from traveling around with your parents, what do you make of it?"

"What do ya mean 'what do you make of it'? I really don't care anymore."  He didn't realize that he was unconsciously clenching his book tighter as he said that sentence. Takuya, however, did and raised an eyebrow as a smirk appeared on his face as well.

"You ARE annoyed, Alex. I can tell. At times like this, I can read your emotions like a book. Heck, I didn't know ya since elementary school for nothing, y'know~"

Annoyed with what Takuya had said, Alexei closed his book and hit Takuya in the back of the head with it before he started to walk away.

"Shut up, Kuya."

"Oww~ that hurt," he winced a little as he was rubbing the spot on his head where Alexei had hit him. "geez, you and your damn thick books! You could have given me a concussion."

He was only a few steps away from Takuya before talking again. This time, he really WAS irratated.

"Okay, maybe it does bother me, but what can I say?! That girl... I've been in her shadow ever since I can remember. She's a frickin' genius and no matter how much I practice, I could never surpass her."

Takuya knew that information Alexei had just told him and knew that he was frustrated. Who could blame him? Ruika had been thrown into Alexei's life after her parents passed away and when his parents found out that she was a music prodigy, all the attention went to her. Takuya got up from where he was sitting and walked over to where Alexei was and placed a hand on his shoulder.

"Alex... I know it's hard for you, and I hate to say it, but I will since I'm your best friend and all. I know Ruika's a genius; I won't deny it. All this frustration you have, has seriously blinded you from seeing your true talent. I know you're talented..." he took his hand off Alexei's shoulder and walked towards the roof's door that lead back into the building.

Before leaving, Takuya finished that sentence. "But, I just wished that you could see that."

"Right now, I might not be that reliable. One day, maybe I'll be able to help. Things can't be the same as they were before, but there's this kind of feeling that's linking us together. I don't think we're living in different worlds."

Mizuki heaved a sighed, looking around herself with disdain. Class had yet to begin, and if it had, she could barely notice, as she had her laptop open in plain view, (even though she sat in the very very corner of the room where it was hard to notice anyone,) as she surfed through the school database. How boring. Ruika, eh? She didn’t seem like anything particularly special, looking at this. Famous? Sure, not that she seemed to have anything to show for it. She didn’t look particularly pretty, not exactly particularly original looking, not particularly special. Mizuki herself could say that she worked even harder, but that couldn’t be determined by looking at just grades. It seemed as if this Ruika girl was calling up a huge ruckus.

“How boring.” Mizuki sighed, rolling her eyes, “She doesn’t seem special at all. I wonder why she’s famous. Maybe it’s just a stupid rumor. That wasn’t worth it at all.”

Surfing onto the next profile, a boy with hazel eyes and a serious expression on his student ID picture, Mizuki blinked, and skimmed over his grades and statistics.

“He’s not particularly special either. But looks like he’s Ruika-sama’s cousin.” ‘-sama’ came out cold and sarcastic as Mizuki slammed her laptop cover shut. It had been so boring lately. It didn’t take long to surf the entire Music Department hard drives, and Mizuki already knew more about everyone then she should’ve. Family business’, Instrument played, grades, illness’, whatever else she could dig up! It was just too bad that the school didn’t comment on anything about their pasts’, unless it had something to do with juvenile delinquents. (And those were extremely interesting.)

Drumming her fingers against her cheek, she listening absentmindedly to the teacher blab on about how the class needed to practice at least blah hours in order to be chosen for a competition as great as the intraschool concur’s. Like she cared. She had no doubt that she’d get in- hands down. Now all that was left was to wait to hear her name across the PA system. Honestly. Mizuki smiled, moving her fingers against her cheek and desk as if she were playing Proud Spirit on her oboe. Such an upbeat song, it was one of her brother’s favorites. But it sounded a lot better with an entire band, in her opinion.

~ + ~

I pulled the headjoint out of the body of my piccolo, having finished practicing for the day. I stood alone, standing in the empty classroom in the west wing. Putting it carefully away, I brushed a polishing cloth along the brand name- “Yamaha”.

“I hate this instrumental combination. A French horn and a piccolo sound so horrible together don’t they?” Akino said, rubbing a polishing cloth along the silver of his French horn, “But everyone’s too afraid of you to play with us!” He laughed, and I resisted the urge to throw my piccolo case at him. He was an old business accquaintence of my family, and I’d been forced to become friends with him in kindergarten. You could still feel the tension of a forced friendship between us, but it wasn’t as bad as it used to be, when we used to resort to talking about the weather.

“I don’t like it either, but it’s not my problem that you play the French horn.”

“Ehh?” Akino pulled on his mouthpiece, “I’m the music student here, I should be the one saying that!”

“Regular or Music Department. It doesn’t matter to me.” I replied nonchalantly, leaving Akino to scramble with his instrument to put it back into his case to catch up.

“Did you hear? There’s a new girl, she’s supposed to be famous!”

“Tch, who cares? If her family’s not in business, I don’t have any reason to befriend her, and neither does Mizuki. Even our friendship is superficial, you know that.”

Akino frowned as he dragged the heavy black case along, “Of course I know, but it sounds worse when you say it out loud!”

Haruka groaned again. This was the first time she was practicing the same piece of music for a long time because she didn’t like the way it sounded. It wasn’t that she was playing the note wrong; it was just that something didn’t feel quite right about the way she played it. Was it her mood? Was that what was affecting her playing? Was it her fault that she wasn’t exactly happy today?!

Sighing, she sat back down on her chair and glared at the paper. “I don’t believe I can’t master you within a day’s time!” Flattening her chin, she started to play the instrument again.

For a few minutes she was playing quite well and the tone came out very nicely but just when she was up to the middle part of the piece, someone banged against the door of the room she was practicing in. The sound caused her to immediately stop playing which made her furious seeing that she was just getting into it.

“Who can be so rude at a time like this?!” she screamed. Getting up off her seat, she walked lividly up to the door and opened it. “What is…” she was cut short when the student apologized first, “I’m so sorry! I was just in a hurried to go somewhere and then tripped. Sorry again for disturbing you!” Without even hearing what Haruka had to say next, the student closed the door for her, leaving her even angrier that before.

Burning with anger, Haruka swung the door opened again and yelled, “You…I’ll remember you! Yes, you! How dare you act so impudently to me?!”

“Sorry but I’m going to meet the music prodigy that arrived at the school today, bye!” with that, the student was gone within a few seconds.

Haruka blinked, “A new student? A music prodigy? What?!” Does that mean a new rival? What instrument does she play? Just who is this prodigy?

Looking back at her seat, she shook her head, “I’ll stop practicing for now. I must find out who they are talking about and what exactly makes this student a prodigy.”

"Damn. What's with that guy? I asked him this morning if he'd show me around school as I've never been there before 'til today. He said that he would, but the next thing I know, he already left for school. I seriously wonder what that guy's thinking at times." Ruika mumbled angrily as she was looking for the Principal's office, with a music case in hand.

She knew that she wasn't the prettiest person in the world, but just like before, like when she was traveling overseas, or at the music academy she was at when she was younger, she'd always somehow hide that. Kinda funny for someone who's been in the spotlight for most of her life. During performances or when she's alone, she'd look prettier, but never really in public as she wasn't fond of reporters or paparazzi.

Of course today... that wouldn't matter anyway. Even if she did her makeup (which wasn't much in the first place) and her hair differently, or wore her glasses (which though they looked classy, she never liked them), you could still recognize her. In the end, she just decided to look a tad bit fancier -- partially to make a good impression and partially since she was already used to it.

When she got to the Principal's office, she sighed as she knocked on the door. He told her to come in and went inside. The office itself wasn't uber fancy, but had a comfortable atmosphere. The principal saw her and greeted her.

"Ah! Welcome to Seiso Academy. You must be Ruika Novikov," the principal said cheerfully as he held out a hand to her. "I almost didn't recognize you."

She shook his hand for a brief moment though she had a confused look on her face. "Huh?"

"You look a little different from the picture on your transcript. Prettier, I mean; more like what you look like during a performance."

"Oh. So I see."

"Anyway, I'd like to welcome you to our school and one of the students from the Music Department, probably, will show you to your class. You're in class 2-A, I believe. You've got a strong transcript and you'll do quite well-" The door opened and a student walked in. "Speaking of which, he's the student who'll show you to your class. If you have any problems, please feel free and come tell me."

"Thank you." She said as she walked towards the student standing at the door. She didn't recognize him from a first glance, but he looked familiar. The two of them left the office and were walking towards the Music Department. It was kinda odd that a student from the Regular Department was walking her to her class; she was expecting a music student, but as long as they knew where they were going, she guessed that it'd be all right.

"It's nice to meet ya, Ruika-sama."

"You don't have to be so formal with me. I hate the formalities. Just Ruika's enough."

"Alright. I'm Takuya Suzuki, by the way."

"Takuya... That name sounds familiar. You know my cousin Alexei by any chance?"

"Yep," he nodded. "He's my best friend."

"I thought so. I saw a picture of the two of you from a few years back, which was why I was wondering."

"Ah. Anyway, I don't know too much about you as Alex never talks about you. Whenever I bring it up, he just changes the subject. I'm sure most of the students are gonna ask 'how are you a prodigy' right?"

"Yeah...," Ruika said with a sigh. "It's not like the world knows about my whole life."

"True."

"I started playing the violin when I was three and even before that, I could read music; probably before I could talk, according to my parents. By the time I was five, I was already playing things that would normally take years to get to that point. That and I was also writing music. My parents knew I was a prodigy when I was able to memorize music that was over 20 pages long with just a glance of the whole piece and even if I hadn't even heard the piece before, I could play it perfectly."

"Whoa, that's crazy. I've been playing trumpet since I was nine and I still have trouble memorizing pieces that long in such a short amount of time."

"I guess," she shrugged. "I also have a really good ear, which wasn't really a good thing when I was at that music academy in Paris, as I was able to hear any mistake, even if it was so tiny that the performer didn't even realize it. That, and I really DON'T sugar coat my criticism."

After that, the two were relatively quiet for a little bit, until Takuya noticed her case. Of course by that time, they weren't far from the classroom.

OOC: I don't often stick myself into things, but, I'm going to in this post because I feel like it today. xDD

IC:"I'm bored." Mizuki announced as they were let out for the break. Laptop in hand, she was the first one out the door, even though she was furthest from the gateway to freedom, and it wasn't as if she was gracious enough to open the door quietly, instead, she slammed- and I mean, SLAMMED, it open, not bolting out, just slamming it open and staring around the outside as the other students recovered from a spontaneous heartattack.

"Does that girl really play the harp?" She heard another first year mumbled to his friend, and grabbing a pencil from her bag she threw it at him with fair accuracy, saying, "Better then you ever will."

Stalking out of the classroom with a sniff, she stood like a statue in the middle of the hall, and looked around herself. Ah, just a bunch of nobodies. Eh? That must've been Ruika. Second-year. Not in business. Not all that impressive. Mizuki stared boredly for a minute before perking up a thin eyebrow, sliding her gaze to the student next to her. Takuya Suzuki. Trumpet-player, average talent, not anyone worth knowing.

Mizuki blinked and said flatly, (as per out of good conduct,) "Good morning, Suzuki-senpai, Novikov-senpai." Not bothering to add her title, she shouldered her school bag and opened up her laptop again as she walked away, back straight, head held high. Her fingers darted across the keyboard and made two extra notes in her personal student information drive.

"Ruika Novikov. Second Year. Nothing special. Famous. Might get family respect points for befriending her. Not likely." Snapping the miniature laptop shut, Mizuki proceeded to look for brother dearest, Kei.

~ + ~

"Listen," Akino was saying earnestly, "I'm telling you! The music department is filled with brain eating demons! Don't sacrifice yourself for them!! You've got a good head Kei, if you go over to the dark side, your mind'll turn into mush!"

"Aren't you in the music department?" Kei stated the obvious and Akino fell silent.

"Who say's I'm not a brain eating demon?" He finally shot back.

"That sucked."

"Better then nothing!"

"You're the one dragging me over here." Kei sighed, "Why are you advising me against it? Oh- well, I guess that does mean that I can just go home now." He turned around, but the tail of his blazer was snatched up in a tist fist, Akino blubbering, "Why is my good, dear, and kind friend ditching me?? I just want to go get my music from the classroom! It won't be far!"

Kei sighed, "Isn't Mizuki in the music department."

Akino sweatdropped, "Ah-er..... yeah?"

"...Why did you hesitate?"

"I didn't hesitate, I have no idea what you're talking about. I mean it's not like Mizuki is the scariest girl I've ever met, and it's not like she's the most conpicious person I've ever seen."

"...At least she can keep secrets." Kei sweatdropped, and Akino gave Kei a light punch on the arm, "I think it's a good trait, to not be able to lie! It means you're an HONEST person! Honestly Kei, I swear half the things you've told me are lies."

"...." Kei raised an eyebrow, "Like the fact that I'm not a brain eating demon?"

"....Kei. You're a regular student. Regular students are mortal's."

"Right. Whatever you say Akino, but leave me out of it."

"AND THIS, MY FRIEND, IS CLASSROOM 3-B, MUSIC DEPARTMENT!" Akino announced loudly with a grin, as he opened the door to reveal a classroom that looked painfully like Classroom 3-B Regular department. Sweatdropping at the unimpressed expression on Kei's face, Akino proceeded to quietly gather his things so they could leave.

Ruika saw Mizuki walk past her and Takuya. She didn't seem to like Ruika at all, which in a way was stupid as she did even know her past being famous. "That girl... I don't have a good feeling about her. And she obviously doesn't like me and I haven't even done anything to her. Geez..."

She waved Takuya goodbye, as he was walking back towards the Regular Department, before walking into the classrom.
----
Ruika sighed. She had only been in that room for not even ten minutes and she had been bothered by at least half her class. She couldn't even touch the landscape that she had been working on since last night. It wasn't a masterpiece or anything, but it looked quite decent, since she hadn't touched her drawing pad for the past five years.

"Hey, Ruika-sama. What's in the case? Looks like a viola case, but from what I've heard, you usually play the violin, right?"

Ruika glanced at her case, which was indeed a viola case. "Apparently my cousin must have taken my violin case instead of his viola case today. And, please don't use formalities with me. Just call me Ruika."

She noticed that there wasn't a teacher in a room, which made her wonder. "Hm, doesn't a teacher teach this class?"

A student shook their head. "Nope. This class is a free study, so you can do what you want, Ruika."

"Ah. Thank you." She got up from her seat, picked up her bag and case, and walked out the room.

"Now to find somewhere to draw or even practice."

She walked around the school, not really knowing where she was going at first, but quickly caught on. Without knowing it, she accidently bumped into someone, causing her to drop her case.

"Oh, I'm sorry," she picked up her case and when she saw the person who she bumped into, she got a bit pissed. "You..."
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Alexei walked down the stairs from the roof looking bored and slightly annoyed. What Takuya had told him... it wouldn't be the first time that he's mentioned it. But, it still bothered him when he said it.

I know you're talented... But, I just wished you could see that.

"Damn it, Kuya. Whenever you say things like that, of course it makes me think."

He didn't want to think about it anymore or about Ruika. He just wanted to be alone for a little while. With Alexei's luck, that didn't happen. Instead, he bumped into a girl. When he realized who he had bumped into, she realized it first. "You..."
----
"Alex, out of all the people to bump into, it just had to be you."

"Hey, you're the one who isn't watching where they're going, Ru-i-ka." He was clearly annoyed with Ruika; he was even prononcing her name by each syllable.

"Geez..." she rolled her eyes. "you could have at least have told me that you were leaving home eariler, instead of just leaving me to wonder and to figure out where everything was myself."

"Sorry." He replied bluntly. "I didn't want to be around someone who's always been in the spotlight." Luckily for him, she didn't hear that.

"I know you don't like me because I pretty much took the spotlight away from you and I can't blame you. But, don't think life being a music prodigy is all glamour and I like it. Y'know what? I don't enjoy it as much as you think."

"Ruika..."

"You are seriously acting like a child. I'm sure Takuya's said this too, as he's your best friend. You've got talent and the potential to be big in music as I have heard you play alone, whether it's in classical or not, but because of your attiude towards me, you really don't see that."

"Ruika, sometimes...-"

Ruika had a feeling where this conversation with her cousin was going, so she interupted him.

"Sometimes what? I was dead like my real parents? You've said that before and I almost did die, but that wasn't your fault."

She made it sound like almost dying was no big deal, but Alexei knew that it wasn't like that. Alexei couldn't think of anything to say to her and Ruika was just staring right back at him. Little that the two of them know, someone was watching them the entire time and heard their conversation.

OOC: I actually feel kinda bad since my character is pretty much friendless so I’d like her to interact with you guys soon. >.<

After packing up her things, Haruka decided to go back to class first and place her instrument down before she went ahead to look for that prodigy who she was sure was going to be her rival very soon. She was already ready to challenge her. If she won the challenge that she’d be even better than a prodigy. Yup, her dream would finally unfold itself if she were able to defeat her.

The more she thought about it, the more excited she got so her pace quicken as she drew closer to her classroom. Before she was more than two feet away from her classroom, though, her pace slowed down again so she could keep her posture. Yes, she must look like she wasn’t desperate to meet and then challenge that prodigy.

When she entered the room, full of confidence, she was shocked to see a Regular Department student in her classroom. In fact, she had to take a step back to make sure she was in the right classroom to fully realize it was the truth.

Oh well…so it’s his friend, should’ve known, she thought while looking at Akino. Haruka pretended to smile and continued to make her way to her desk. It wasn’t that she disliked the Regular Department students but…well, they’re not exactly musicians so she never really cared for them. No challenge there and no need for interaction there. The only people she didn’t really like, were the people who think they know music but, in reality, they don’t.

After putting her sheets of music down, she thought about whether or not to bring her clarinet with her. Well, since she was going to meet that prodigy and challenge her anyway, why not?

She blinked. Wait a second…who is this prodigy and how could she find her? Might as well ask someone in the class since they were practically all gossipers. The only reason why Haruka didn’t know about her was because her main focus was on the clarinet and she spent the last few years of her life only focusing on it and still is. If the person isn’t a famous clarinet player, she wouldn’t take much notice of any prodigy. In this case, though, since this famous person was in her school, she was interested.

Clearing her throat, Haruka walked up to one of the most talkative people in her class and asked, “Hello, hey, I was wondering…do you know that there is a new person in this school? If so, do you know where I could find her?” She also forced a smile just to look nice.

Since the girl was really loquacious, it took Haruka a long time to get rid of her because, somehow, the conversation changed from being about the new student to her new car. After saying she was in a hurry, she thanked the girl and left the room as quickly as possible.

She walked along the hallways to find where Class 2-A could be. Where…where…where?

"I know you don't like me because I pretty much took the spotlight away from you and I can't blame you. But, don't think life being a music prodigy is all glamour and I like it. Y'know what? I don't enjoy it as much as you think."

That caught Haruka’s attention, prodigy? Did she just say, she was the prodigy? That girl? She looked at the two people who were having a conversation and hid behind a wall.

After hearing everything, Haruka was shocked. EH?

OOC: LOL...hope you had something like that in mind. >.< I didn't want to quote everything you said so I just ended it like that. XD

OOC: Hmm... I might kill this post. I really didn't have anything to say, so unless someone decide's that they can do something with the nonsense in this post, then I'll delete it.

Akino held the music books silently in his hands, and Kei examined his watch as Akino listened intently to the conversation. Looking up, Kei couldn't help but sweatdrop at the pitiful expression on Akino's face, which was all loli-shota crying. "Blubbering..." Kei mumbled loud enough only for himself to hear while Akino, easily moved, retreated back into the classroom, and shut the door, leaving Kei on the outside.

Ehhh?!?! Kei silently mouthed for Akino to open the "goddamned door", but Akino was too busy bawling. Sighing in annoyance, Kei turned around and left his good-for-nothing friend where he was. Dead parents huh? Musical Prodigy to boot. Stepping out into the cool breeze, Kei sighed and shook his head. What an other-worldly way of living life.

"So?" Mizuki asked, popping up beside him, laptop open and at the ready, "What'd you get?"

Kei sweatdropped, "Like I'd tell you, you nosy little brat."

"EHHH?!?! KEI THAT WAS MEEEEEAN!" Mizuki waved her laptop around, "I'm your only and most beloved little sister!!"

"Loudest little sister too."

"You're such a poopy-head!" Mizuki stuck her tongue out, earning a scornful look from her older brother that screamed, 'you're immature'. Kei shrugged, "She's famous Mizuki. Don't mess with her or else Mom and Dad'll get pissed. They seem to love messing in my business..."

"Oh. So basically you'll get blamed right? Better go introduce myself then." Mizuki turned around and headed for the hallway before Kei grabbed the back of her blazer and snapped, "Lunchtime Queen of Gossip."

"Your treat?" Mizuki gave her older brother a wide, bright smile, that said, "I'll go cause trouble if not!" And so, somehow, Kei ended up treating his little sister to lunch.

((Yep, that works with me, Rella. ^^ and wow... heh, you beat me to the post, Hanabi. XP Well, here's the other half of their conversation and I think the last paragraph should make it work with yours, Hanabi. Hee, hee. Also finally got a pic of Alex up on his profile; still workin' on Ruika's though. XD))

"Alex, don't look at me like that. You know what I'm saying is true. You may envy me, but I envy you just the same. Because I'm a prodigy, I was always busy with either practicing, performing in concerts, or writing music. I never really had time to have fun or to really make friends. I hate you for that. Because of my talent, I always got picked on back then. You remember, don't you?"

"Yeah.. I do." Alexei's eyes glanced towards the floor and knew what she was talking about. Both he and Ruika went to that music academy in Paris when they were still quite young and knew that because Ruika was so much better than the older students, that got her into trouble and why they always picked on her.

"I love music; you of all people should know that. But, besides music... I've always wanted more. You at least have friends you can rely on. Heck, you even have a best friend, who you can talk to. I don't. It's bothers me sometimes, but I'm used to it now..."

Alexei hated to see Ruika act like this. It his personality, or rather pride, he wouldn't admit it, that he really was a lot more lucky than he thought. He never realized that all the people that were around Ruika, she was never friends with any of them and only wanted to hang out with her because she's famous.

"Ruika..." He wanted to say something to make her feel better, but he couldn't say anything more than her name. Even if he could, she wouldn't let him as she was about to walk away from him.

"Alex," she sounded mad and wasn't in a good mood anymore. "don't push it."

She began to walk away from him, leaving him confused in the middle of the hall, as she said one more thing, "I have your viola case, by the way. I'll give it back to you later."

She didn't get too far before she saw part of a skirt coming from behind the wall. Already pissed off, she quickly and silently walked towards that wall and when she got to the other side, she saw a girl and by the color of her tie, she was a third year.

"Damn it! How much of that conversation did she hear?!"

"Who are you and how much of that conversation did you hear?"

It was bad enough that she had an argument with her own cousin in school, on her first day, mind you, and now... this girl. Ruika wanted to yell at this girl for evesdropping, but she knew that perhaps she didn't hear anything and was just at the wrong place at the wrong time. Her mind was telling her other things. She was beginning to wonder though... If this girl did hear her conversation, who else could have heard them?

OOC: Ooh, you guys both drew your characters. They’re very nice; I just wish I can draw too! TT__TT

Haruka was shocked that Ruika found out she was eavesdropping but tried to hide that feeling as she felt her confidence level rose again.

Crossing her arms, she said, “My name is Asazaki Haruka and how much I heard from your conversation has nothing to do with what I have to say next. I would like to challenge you,”-points at Ruika-“music prodigy, to a duel! Will you accept it?”

This was it. She was going to beat that prodigy and become famous. All these lonely years of practicing the same instrument every single day would soon pay off. She could just taste victory already.

OOC: Sorry for the uberly short post. >.<

((No prob. I tend to make my posts long without knowing it. XD That and when your character's interacting with another, it kinda has to be short as you can't control someone else's actions. Anyway~))

In all honestly, Ruika wasn't exactly in the mood to be dealt with; it reminded her of her days in Paris, which of course, though she was serious about music back then just like the present, she was always ruthless, yet displayed great passion and talent in whatever music she played (her own works or composed ones). A huge advantage then, and as of now, but in some ways, it kinda worked against her. Not really now, but more so, when she was younger.

"This is new... When was the last time someone challenged me in person? It's been years, now that I think about it. Oh yeah... everyone at that academy. I made so~ many enemies that way. Sigh..."

Ruika closed her eyes for a quick moment and smirked.

"Haruka Asazuki, huh? Well, Haruka, you're a interesting girl. Even if you did hear everything, I don't need it spread around the school." "It might just give me more trouble than I need. Of course, that's only the tip of the iceberg." She added those last two sentences in her mind.

She paused for a moment before continuing. "There is a reason why people usually don't challenge me head on like this, especially after what happened at my old school. But..." she smirked. "If you really think you can beat me, I'll take you on. Before anything else... I'll tell you this much: over confidence will kill you. Mark my words on it."

((Okay, finally updated it. And yeah, Rella, btw, Ruika really isn't kidding by her words. Just to give ya a head's up; of course with Haruka's personality, I'm guessing it wouldn't affect her... or would it? *smirk* ))

OOC: Oh, lol, alrighty. Thanks for the heads up…now if only Haruka could take advice too. *sighs*

Haruka gritted her teeth and balled her fist, “Well, you know what? I could care less about your background. All I know is that you’re my rival and you’re in the way of my success. If I can defeat you, my dream can finally unfold itself before my eyes!”

She had full confidence and she knew it. What Ruika said? Sure, it may be true that she’d be a challenge since she is the music prodigy but Haruka has been training way too hard to be pushed all the way down like that. Words were meaningless to her. What really mattered was the outcome. She has never lost a challenge before and she wasn’t planning to make this one her first.

Smirking Haruka said, “Since you’re the one being challenged by me, why don’t you pick the song or the theme? I’ll just set the time limit and the place,”-grins-“this duel between us will take place two days from now in the park near this school.”

((Yep, yep. No prob. Btw... how should we have this part unfold? I see two versions happening here. PM me about it.))

Hearing Haruka's response, she sighed in her mind. Her thoughts were going straight into what she remembered experiencing back in Paris and she wasn't fond of it.

"Geez... this girl really IS full of confidence, isn't she? Too confident, if you ask me. Even if she has talent... something tells me that she's missing something. Sigh... she truly reminds me of those people from back then. Ah well, I guess I'll have to deal with it like I did back then."

"Alright, that's fine by me," she nodded. "Song or theme huh? Hm..." Ruika thought about it for a moment. She knew she couldn't do something that she herself had composed as she never had them officially published or anything as of yet even though she's played them before at some of her past concerts. Then the idea came to her. "How about..."

-=-=-=-=-=-

Alexei sighed when he saw Ruika walking off with his viola case.

"Well, guess I won't be seeing that viola 'til we get home later. Sigh..."

He was about to walk towards the library to return the book he'd been reading earilier when he heard Ruika's and another girl's voice coming from the direction Ruika was walking in. Curious to see what Ruika got herself into, he walked towards them. As he got closer, he heard the words 'Haruka Asazuki,' 'challenge,' and 'theme or song.'

"You've got to be kidding me," he thought, slapping his forehead quietly. "she got herself into a music challenge?! She JUST transferred here and she's already doing stuff like this?! This is JUST like when we were in Paris all over again!"

He stopped walking when he got towards the end of the wall; he didn't want to be seen and listened to the rest of their conversation.

"Theme or song huh? Hm... How about..."

-=-=-=-=-=-

"How about... the first song that I actually liked, as it was the first song to give me a challenge: Niccolò Paganini's Caprice 24 of 24 Caprices in A Minor, which is a part of his 24 Caprices. I don't know what instrument you play, but I DO hope that there's a version that you can play or else... I don't know what to tell you. And, one more thing, -- it HAS to be memorized to it's full extent. No mistakes, hopefully."

She didn't add this last part out loud: "I actually haven't fully memorized this song, as I didn't have the full version when I was seven, but I'll have no problem with the rest of it. I will laugh if she doesn't play violin, as to my knowledge, Paganini only wrote this piece and his variations of it for violin, not including accompaniment, which I'm pretty sure that there weren't any. Alex tried playing this piece on viola on his own once, when he thought I wasn't there listening the whole time, though it sounded strange..."

((To be completely honest, I really don't know if that song has a clarinet version as when I looked it up briefly, all those were for violin. I didn't look it up in detail. ^^;; Sorry~ *bows*))

OOC: AGH! Beaten. >.< I'll edit in just a second.

"At-cha!" Two music books fell on both girl's head, "Asazaki-chan! You can be at least a little nice to the new student!" Akino scolded, with Kei and Mizuki next to him, the siblings thinking simultaneously, "How did we end up back here??" (A/N: Hurrah, for random appearances! End reference to Ouran.)

"I'm sure we can settle this, peacefully." Akino said, looking as if he were the only one around that was feeling moderately peaceful.

"Two days from now, park." Mizuki repeated to herself as she took note of it in her laptop, "I'll be there!"

Kei sighed, and made an attempt to leave, stopped by a fist on the back of his collar, anchoring him firmly at the scene, "I gave Asazaki-chan more credit then to be going around challenging new students just because there's a rumor that she's a prodigy! She is still a new student, and she deserves to be treated with respect, and-"

"Akino-baka," Mizuki cut in, "Wouldn't this challenge be sort of complimenting or acknowledging her skills?"

"So basically, we've missed half of lunch so Akino can lecture about nothing." Kei said in annoyance, slipping out of Akino's grasp, "Lunch." He stated bluntly.

"Asazaki-senpai vs. Novikov-senpai..." Mizuki smirked, "What a wonderful investigation opportunity. Considering your resume didn't impress me all too much, it'll be fun to see you in action- though I have to admit, I prefer the sound of a clarinet over a violin. What a handicap! Shall I be the judge then? Yes, I've decided, I will be the judge!"

"Mizuki..." Akino sweatdropped, "You're a first year... shouldn't I be the judge?"

"You." Mizuki snapped, "Are in class B. Whether you're two years my senior or not, you might as well be in class D with your intelligence. Therefore, I will not allow my IQ to be dragged down to your depths."
