The spoiled brat

Postby Farm Wife on Wed Sep 19, 2007 7:10 am

My girl is a German Shepherd.  Black and Tan.  Mom and Dad are both AKC champions.  Dad is also a Schutzhund Champ.  1 brother and 1 sister in the litter  are doing tracking now.  The rest earning points towards championships/and already champions.

Iley (pronounced  eye  lee)  is just a spoiled brat.   She does however know when I have a migraine coming on.  She's very tuned in to me when something isn't right.    But normally she sticks to me like a tick.  She can find me anywhere on the farm if I have walked.  (In less than 5 minutes)

Of course she's a house dog.   And gets along great with the 21 yr old cat.  (He's another story)

Yes, I spoil her rotten.  (within reason,  the last thing you want is a pushy GSD)  She knows lots of different commands.   She won't go any further than 20 feet when we are walking and she's off the lead.  When we go somewhere in the car or truck she will stay in the vehicle with all the windows down while I go into a store or wherever.

Oh yes,  I love her.  You couldn't take this dog away from me for anything.

We now have the opportunity to get another.  Another female.  Red and Black.  She has a slight heart murmur but they think she'll grow out of it.  The breeders want her to go to a special home.  I guess we were lucky  enough to be their first pick.    I think we should get her and have hubby bond this time.   They want to give her to us.  They know I would spay her .  She comes with a guarantee that if she doesn't grow out of it and we have to put her down (heaven forbid) they would give us another from another litter.    I get too attached.

The cat is my old man.  I've had him for 21 years (almost 22)  He hated dogs until we added Fuzzy to the house.  (Fuzzy was my Golden/Lab mix)  He really seems to like Iley though.
My children found him as a kitten and brought him home.  I think it was a set up.  But, you know how it is when your babies bring home a puppy or kitty and plead with you to keep it.
He's spoiled rotten too, but has earned it.  He still catches mice, and spiders.  HE also keeps Iley in line.  If she gets too rough while playing he puts a claw on her muzzle and she backs off.  Yes, he still has all his claws.  He never scratched anyone.  Never damaged the furniture.  Everyone who meets him falls in love with him.  He also knows sit, stay, jump and lay down.  LOL  he's so cute

My brat got spayed last Tuesday.  The vet put those little poky staples in her so she wouldn't lick at the incision.    I've been trying for a week now to keep her quiet.  She can really jump when she wants to and I can't keep her off the bed.   She keeps attacking the cat, which normally is fine as he gets her if she's too rough.  Now she wants to play with her rope toys.  We call them snakes.  I really don't want her tugging on that toy right now.

She gets the staples out Friday.  I can't wait.

At least the cat isn't trying to clean up the incision site.  LOL
