I just joined the forums last night, and I was trying to get an idea of what pace most of these runs are being run at. I'm pretty out of shape right now (about 30 pounds overweight), and I'm trying to do a lot of low pace aerobic training (around 10 minute miles for now). Are there others in the group that run around this pace? Thanks for the info. Also, I work a strange schedule, so I'd be interested in meeting other people who can run at more varied times (evenings and weekdays).

I am a really new runner only about one month old, and felt like I fit right in with everybody. I made a post last week on the daily news forums and will post a link to the response that I got. I am sure you will have a blast if you come out and join us this Saturday. Good morning Matt,
Welcome aboard. I think you would fit into the Saturday run group just fine. They have been hovering around 9.5 to 10 min. pace. They are more about camaraderie and fun then pacing and if any one feels particularly fast or slow there is always someone who will run with ya. They usually end with a gathering at a coffee shop or at least hanging around talking for awhile after.
As far as your schedule you will find quite a few people who are shift workers(myself included). We make the sat. runs when we can because they are allot of fun. If not we link up with each other during the week. If you find yourself looking for a week day run.drop a line on "impromptu runs" and you might draw some one out.
Don't worry about your pace I run long distance and tend to be pretty slow but if you need speed work some of the members are real formula one types. The gang is a pretty varied mix of any kind of runner you might imagine. _________________ many miles before I sleep |
