Hay!
Laurieb, Kirsty!!!!!!!
Our Lili is delivering right now. She has blood on her nose - does that mean she eat "the bed"? She isn't in the nest but under a lot of hay and paper .... She whistling and crying. We see her only in the head. we already removed Beti in another cage because he was disturbing her all the time. I'm afraid what Beti is thinking and what exactly is happening with Lili and our babies????? Is it right we separated them?????
O my God...... |

You have done the right thing seperating them as they may breed again straight away. I would keep an eye on Lili and see how she goes make sure she isn't having any problems (unlikely but better to be safe then sorry). The blood could be from her cleaning the babies as they are born or from the placenta. Congratualations, we will need lots of pics _________________

We woke up half hour ago. Lili is sreaming like crazy. We don't see any babies yet, just quiet noises from the hole under the hay. She came minute ago out and when she saw me in front the cage she tried to attacked me. Is this normal? Is she ok? Where are the babies? Is she calling Beti?????
I can't wait to see little guys, but we must leave them and her alone. |

She is still screaming. Not all the time. I thought Beti will be that one, but he is surprising calm in other room on his wheel with me.
Is everything ok with her? We still don't see the pups, just voices. She came out 2 times and drinking and eating and yelling..... |

I don't think it will hurt to have a quick look to make sure things are fine with mother and babies, mother degus tend to not mind at all. I think it would also be a good idea to check Lili over as the screaming noise is worrying but she may just be communicating especially if shes eating and drinking as usually when something is wrong they won't eat or drink at all _________________

Hay again!
Today in the evening will be 3 long days when family is separated. Lili is coming out of the big nest often and drink, eat and bath. Only when she come out one pupy come after here several times. The brave one! Once came two. Oh what little lump!!!!!
So it is all right to slowly put Beti back even we don't know how many are them? How he will react? Is it safe? |

I would think by tomorrow it would be safe for Beti to go back in, you will need to keep an eye on him to make sure he is fine with them all but hopefully fingers crossed he will be happy to be home and hopefully encourage the babies out more
What a fantastic cage you have _________________

Beti is in for couple of hours now! But.....
There are at least 3 babies!
The problem is he wants to get on Lili so bad he is bothering her all the time. They are fighting and she has a lot of work to put him on his place. He is very loud and needy if you know what I mean. She don't let him in the nest and he is so nervous trying to get what he wants. Oh dear!
He research pups but he is more interesting in one thing. Do you think he puts Lili and pups under a lot of stress? We are thinking to get him out again or maybe they will agree upon by themselves? |

I would maybe take him out and try again tomorrow so not to stress Lili out too much, he will soon get the message and settle down _________________

I can't understand our guy Beti. The story is the same. He's following Lili everywhere and yes she shows him where his place is, but at the end we think he won. She must be in the season all the time? So in three months we expect another litter-probably the last one. Beti got strong natural instinct. I hope all of the pups will be normal developed because both of them are only 4 and 5 months old.
By now we saw four little one!!!!Really little, the cutest, funny one. So quick and so loud and tiny . I get tears always they show.
Lili is doing well, she drinks and eats a lot and when she is out of the nest she always looking what's going back in there. We were afraid what mother she will become, 'cause she isn't so human friendly as Beti. And Beti licked puppy yesterday, so all our fears gone.
We can't wait they start running and researching around. We checked them in front of the cage, not too much, because Lili gets nervous and aggressive. Patience
I must share the only picture by now we were manage to took.

aaaawwwww
They might not have mated it could be Beti being excited at being home and showing his dominance Its very unlikely she would have let him mate with her with her having pups but its a waiting game and you will just have to wait and see. If she does turn out to be pregnant its important you feed her up (oats are good for this, and plenty of vitamin c) as two pregnancies so soon will take a lot out of her so she needs keeping in tip top condition _________________
