Hey dudes,
Ok we have two male degus, both the same age, we think.
The thing is, one of them, has been getting bigger and bigger and bigger and bigger, whilst the other has remained the same sort of size.
Seriously, one is considerably bigger than the other, to the point where he actually looks like he is "inflating"
What could it be? Could it be that one is actually a female and has gotten pregnant? Im worried _________________ http://www.photoboxgallery.com/mydoodlephotography |

Sometimes degus can vary in size especially if they are from two different litters which is possible as a lot of breeders keep females together. But it can also happen with litter mates too. All my guys vary in size. I would keep an eye on him, is he fine with eating, drinking etc...? _________________

Hey Kirsty, did u enjoy Skye?
Anyways, we have now discovered that Flower actually varies in size!!! Sometimes she is quite "inflated" and then other times, she looks the same as Stumpy! Its bizarre!! Its like she puffs herself up, is this a known thing??? lol
Besides that, she is normal, full of energy, eating/drinking properly, chirping, bright eyes etc, so perhaps we just have a strange Duge on our hands lol _________________ http://www.photoboxgallery.com/mydoodlephotography |

Hey, Skye was fantastic thanks, will get round to posting some pics on FB later
Degus do puff themselves up sometimes for varying reasons, sometimes if they are cold they do it, if they are asleep they sometimes do it, if they are unwell (but usually linked with other symptoms such as lethargy etc..), if they are annoyed. If Flower is eating and drinking, playing around normally then i wouldn't over worry too much as sounds normal _________________

My two boys are different sizes too. Bash is half the size of Slick, but the funny thing is, Bash is the boss! He wins all the 'handbag' fights and rules the roost so to speak, lol.
I love it whenthey are sleepy and fluff up. Sometimes when the come see me after waking up, it looks like their cheeks are full of food they are so fluffed up, lol. _________________
