Hi,
Am getting my first degus on sunday-I can't wait! Sorry, had to tell someone who's response isn't going to be 'what's a degu!!'
Also, pets at home now do natural treats for small animals. I know not all of them are suitable for degus but I found fenugreek chips which I think are just fenugreek. They are hard so good for their teeth but small enough to hand feed as treats-however, is fenugreek safe for degus?
Thanks |

I have never heard of fenugreek! I have no idea if it would be safe or not.
I have a general rule of thumb, when I'm not sure if something is safe, I just opt not to give it to them. There are plenty of other things I know are safe, and that they enjoy - so I just don't risk it.
That's just what I do. You may choose to do something different! I guess your best bet would be 1) find out what exactly the ingredients are in the chips and 2) research fenugreek to see if it seems like it would be safe.
Wish I could be of more help! Maybe someone else here will know!
Congrats on the new Degus! And good for you for knowing so much about their dietary needs! May you have many happy years together! _________________

I give my guys the Fenugreek chips, i break one chip into three to four pieces though and only give a little at a time and they have been having them for the last 6 months and i have witnessed no ill effect at all. Its a natural product and i couldn't find anything bad about it when i researched it on the internet so i deem it safe _________________
