Since about 15 mins ago, Bash, the little rouge of the pair has started squeeking non stop.
It's probably nothing, but he's never done anything like this ever and it's worrying me:(
I've had him out and checked him, I can't see anything, and I've cuddled him, but he just won't stop
Please can anyone put my mind at rest, do they do this normally, should I go to the vets, cos that's where I want to go but they're shut |

It sounds like he is just sending out a warning something has probably startled him and he is warning his friend to be on guard. Usually they will stop after 5 minutes or so but in some cases they can go on for an hour or more. No amount of soothing or treats tend to help and you just have to let them squeak it out
I was awoken this morning with chirps from the degu room the rain had startled one of my foursome Dougal and he was squeaking his heart out, i gave them all a little shredded wheat (the chins have one every morning and the degus all expect something to) and he squeaked his way through that _________________

Thanks
I've been cuddling him and stuff and I think he's calming down now, it's not constant squaking now thank god.
I was just so worried about him. One because he's the brave one and never seems faised by anything, and two because he's basically never acted like this before and Slick, the wuss of the family, was fine.
When they get scared they normally both squeak as loud as possible and run for cover, but they were both going about their business as usual, so strange.
Oh well, it meant Bash wanted his mummy for almost 4 hours, so at least I got some love out of it
Thanks again for putting my mind at rest, I'm a bigger wuss than Slick when it comes to my babies!! |

This happened with my little girl Imana a week or 2 ago. It was very distressing to me too, as Imana never does that kind of thing either. Just like your Bash, she was just very agitated, and squeaked non-stop.
I have no idea what had scared her! Probably will never know. It is distressing, not to mention an ear-piercing sound!
Hopefully Bash will settle down soon. _________________

Bash is all better now
I've just come home from football and he and Slick have had their usual nap on my hand.
For some reason it has become a ritual for me to lay on the floor with the bottom door open (they usually make a break for it, but not at bed time) and I put my hand just inside the entrance to their bed/house and they stretch out onto my hand and fall asleep on me till I have to move and go to bed, lol.
They really are soft lumps, lol
Thanks again for the reassurance |

Your boys are so lucky to have such a owner. They are so pretty!! On first look I thought it's our Beti in the middle picture. They are so alike. Our Beti squeeks often and a lot, several times per days or some times none. We think this is related with mate thing of course, but mostly he do that when strange, unusual sounds appear, like loud music, thunder, and specially the sound of crackers. I don't know how he will spend New Year time.... Sadly I want see it... |

The only time I ever hear a thing from them is about 2am is, when they want a love. I have to go put my hand in the cage, they jump on have a snooze and then 10 mins later I disturb them, they go to their hammock and them I hear nothing till same time (ish) next day.............they have me trained, lol
The pics in my sig, are the boys when the radiator is on. Bash is under tha bathroom radiator while I have a bath and Slick is on the hall radiator, lol. They know where it's good to be _________________

I would think an hour at a time on average, but if I'm cleaning upstairs they could be out for 3/4 hours.
Last time they helped me clean, I sat on the bed to sort some paper work and they both jumped on the foot I had on the floor and fell asleep, lol....It must have been too much like hard work for them dusting my wood floor with their tummys, _________________
