Hi just wondering if anyone can help me with what to feed in addition to Nippy and Nigel's daily prepacked guinea pig food?

What veg can I give them daily and what quantities??   Just want to make sure they are getting a decent diet.

Thanks Very Happy

Mine get a mixture of dried leaves and flowers on top of their daily food rations to keep the diet somewhat more natural Smile

Veggie wise there should be a sticky on veggies and herbs in this section somewhere and i feed them a mixture of them 2 or 3 times a week (sometimes fresh and sometimes dry) and usually rule of thumb is small finger nail sized pieces. Some degus don't like fresh and prefer dried veggies which you can either buy ready done from somewhere such as Pets at Home or you can do yourself in the oven which is really simple Smile

I give mine dried roses (petals and rosebuds), hibiscus flowers, marigold, calendula, lavender, marshmallow, sunflower. I also give them rosehips occasionally too.

I used dried leaves and the leaves i use are hawthorne, apple, strawberry, blackberry, raspberry, plantain, dandelion, nettle, echinachea and sometimes a fresh hazel leaves but only on special occasions Smile
