When we first had our boys they used to urinate on us , they no longer do this. Why did they do it when we first had them, I'm guessing it's marking their terrtory but if anyone knows the answer that would be great. |

It was probably a case of scent marking or slight fear if it happened right at the beginning when you had them as degus take a while to trust people fully so it may just be a case of they trust you now 
Degus aren't the best at being toilet trained. I let my guys out in my hallway and thankfully i have wooden floor as i have to mop it every time as they just seem to go as and when needed. Whereas my chinchillas return to their cage to urinate

That's good. It's nice to know they trust us now. I must admit they love having cuddles and run to their door everytime we go into the room.
This is a great forum, particularly if you're new to degus like us. The pet shops seem to know very little about them which is worrying when they are the ones selling them!!! We had to do our own research before buying them and I'm glad we did otherwise we might have only bought one and that would have been a big mistake as they love each others company. |

Gosh mine are so civilised they only ever pee in their litter tray and hang on when we have them out and wait till they are home
