Well We adopted 4 Goo's... A mother and 3 kids... However at the end of week one all is not well..
1st One got out and to catch it prooved difficult to catch... and unfortunatly I was bitten.. No harm came to the Goo. then we had to clean them out, and we had no easy way of moving them from there cage to the "holding area" Now..... 2 of them when ever we go close squeak at us and "go" for us,.... when we go up to the cage there is a bit of tail stamping and also they roll on to there side..
Can anyone help.. how do we gain there trust again.???
Thanks to all that have read this I look forward to the responses!!
Thanks

Hey bdayboom. It'll take time. U should try to sit by the cage to start with and just talk to them - get them used to ur voice.
Then maybe after a few days u cud open the cage n just put ur hand in - let them sniff it. Or put a bit of food in it for them to come to - i wouldnt even attempt to reach out n touch them yet.
If u need to get them outta the cage (for cleaning it etc) using a large cardboard tube is a good idea - they tend to crawl into it and then u can transport them to the 'holding area' in that.
My degus never liked to be held as such - theyd happy climb all over u but didnt want to be cupped in ur hands - a lot of degus are like that.
Do u know wot sex the babies are? U dont want them to breed with the mother if they are male.
Hope this helps a wee bit. |

All degus seem to do that - its them showing their dominance - deciding whos boss.
At least u dont have boys - they tend to clean their bits infact sometimes even play with them - especially when you have visitors!!
When u are more able to handle them (or if u can get them to climb up to the top of the cage so u can see underneath them) u might just wana have a quick look for urself n check their sexes - sooo many ppl have had surprise degu babies due to wrong sexing. |

My four girls, get about an hour of play in the playpen daily. They love to play with toilet paper rolls, empty egg box, cardboard...rope and many other things. For snack mine get 2 to 3 pieces of dried corn each. Everytime I open the cage they rush down to see me |
