heard that you can give rose petals as a treat so I went and cut off a rose from the garden (growing wild so defo no pesticides etc) they devoured them in seconds lol, couldnt resist taking some pics its the longest time I have ever seen them sit still for:

Hi
I am new here and I know this is an older thread...but I am wondering does it matter what kind of roses or can they eat any rose leaves?
Thank you

Aw I missed these guys arriving on the forum somehow! They look like my Remy and Emile (except your "Emile" has a full tail!) They look like they're really enjoying those rose petals, did you come across any other flowers they can eat? |

thnaks guys - petkeeper - I havent a clue about rose leaves I would leave that answer to amethystbelle - rose petals doesnt make any difference as to which roses they are/colour etc - these petals were from the wildly grown roses from my next door neighbours garden (no pesticides or fertilisers used here ) - internet_nobody again I dont really know what other plants they can eat particularly other than roses and rosehips I go by this forum and all the treats I buy are from the shop that amethystbelle recommends on here in her links - brilliant shop with gr8 service - I thoroughly recommend but I am new to degu keeping and I am sure there are far more eperienced people than I that can recommend wild plants etc to feed |

Its just the rose buds and rose petals that are really degu safe and they can come from any kind of rose really, sometimes helps if you dry them out a little in the oven for some goo's too
Regards other plants there are quite a few as well as leaves. Petalwise there are marigold, hibiscus, sunflower, cone flower, lavender, chamomile. Leafwise dandelion, plantain, nettle (dried), strawberry, raspberry, apple, blackberry and hawthorne. You can also feed them parsley and mint. I have probably missed some, think there is a sticky on this either at the top of the diet section or the treats section _________________
