Hi there,
I have not been posting here for a longtime. Maddy's been doing beautifully for the last year. She dropped her afternoon nap, but she will have a quiet time in her room usually asl long as her nap would be. She can't get out of her room and she knocks when she's done. Fine by me... my new problem is night before last she woke up 2 1/2 after falling asleep having a night terror, I believe. Wouldn't open eyes, inconsolably crying. I finally got her settled and then it hapened again a few hours later. Pulled her into bed with me and she fell asleep right away. She asked to go back in her bed after a few minutes of sleep. Asleep for the rest of the night. She did it again last night, I left her for a few minutes and she settled down for a few minutes and then got worse. She seemed to wake up but couldn't get any answer to what was wrong. A small snack and off to sleep. Got up this morning and is a peach?!?!?!?!?!?!
Any suggestions???? _________________

Sorry, I don't have any suggestions. That's a new one to me. I would say just go with your gut and do what you have to do. From things I've heard it should pass. Maybe others may have more suggestions. _________________

Hi...
I have no experience with night terrors, but I know Sam wakes up from bad dreams - he is usually quick to settle down after we go in to check him out. I know night terrors are totally different than a nightmare - I do remember reading somewhere to just leave them be - not to try to wake them out of it, but obviously make sure they aren't getting hurt, especially if they are thrashing around. Like Shawna said, I think it's a phase that passes ....
I know that lately, Sam has been skipping his nap & getting him to bed has been a bit of battle (and he rarely gives us a problem when going to bed). He's been crying a lot at bedtime & looking for some extra TLC - he's started to tell me that he's scared & doesn't want me to leave (again, this is NEW for him), so perhaps their lack of napping has them so "active" that it can disrupt their normal sleep patterns ???? I may be reaching here, but it could be related???
Here's hoping Maddy stops having the terrors ..... and you all get some rest .... _________________ Kris
