My daughter (10 months) doesn't seem to nap long enough....she has a short 45-60 min nap in the morning at around 9AM, and another around 1PM that sometimes goes 1.5 hours, but usually only around 1 hr.....she seems tired very early because of this and needs to be in bed for the night around 5:30 or 6PM at the VERY latest.....how do I get her to nap longer during the day?  I've tried sound machine with white noise and blocking out her bedroom window so her room is darker....any suggestions would be appreciated.

Unfortunatley there is little that you can do to make them nap longer. Confused
If there are things happening like teething or developmental leaps then it may be hard for her to nap for longer than that.
The best thing that you can do is to keep offering that early bedtime to keep her rested and eventually they will get longer. Especially when she does the switch to just one nap. That is when it seems to lengthen out quite a bit and get easier, but the transition to that stage is a long one. Sorry that I don't have any golden secrets for you!!!

Sarah is right, there is not much that you can do to force a longer nap, but it will get better as your little one phases into 1 single nap, which she may be starting to do at this age with the shorter naps.  The only thing you can do is watch for her tired cues & get her down for a nap as soon as possible & if her first nap is short, she may need nap#2 a bit earlier & of course, the earlier bedtime will help if that nap is not longer either..... Some kids just aren't long nappers, but again, hopefully when she gets to one single nap, it will be a nice afternoon break for everyone!!
