I found EST when my daughter Keira was about 6 months old and she hardly slept, or so it seemed. When we got her night sleep on track (the early bedtime was sorely lacking in our household), her naps lengthened gradually over about a month's time, plus we got rid of that nasty third nap and she transitioned to two. She's almost 3 now and she sleeps from about 7:00pm-6:30 am, with one nap. I have another baby on the way though so I may be back here
I've only ever 'lurked' here and soaked up the great info and atmosphere of support.. thanks to everyone here for this great site.. |

Glad you found some helpful tips and tricks here! I have two now and I came back for lots of help, too! So, don't be shy.
Glad to hear that Keira is such a great sleeper!! I can't believe I still get people questioning my sleep routines with my 4 year...people are always like "so, you don't DO anything at night. what if you want to go out?" my gawd people, we have small children. visiting on a tuesday night is not my priority plus it's just too damn tiring! 7 pm bedtime is the time that kids should be going to bed...although now my four year old is eding closer to 730 b/c he takes a nap a daycare (darn them! ) _________________

I really want to focus on this new one's sleep, right from the start so we hopefully don't have the same issues we had the first time around. I am reading through some of the threads from moms who've EST'd from the start and wow, what a difference it seems from some first and second babies! Got my fingers crossed will be the same for me. I don't care what people think, my free time while baby is sleeping, albeit stuck at home is priceless!!!
Anybody have any tips for having a newborn and a toddler??? |

hmmmmmmmmmmmm....tips for a newborn and toddler. Lots of advil? haha. Is your toddler in any care outside of the home?
My son was 3 1/2 years old when I had my second son. I wish I had tips, but honestly I leaned on care outside of the home. It was full-time for the first couple months then I switched to 2 to 3 days of care outside the home and survived on the other days. Unfotunately, used TV in my bedroom as a prop to entertain my older child while putting down my baby. So, I am not the best role model!. Well, this post was not inspiring...I should delete it for you. Sorry... _________________
