If anyone is coming to Perth; if you haven't already done so you will need to decide if you will be residing north of the river, or south of the river. It's no good asking my advice because I am bias. I live north of the river, my real estate agency is north of the river.......... so i am obviously not going to recommend living SOR am I? Best bet is for you to come over and have a good look around and spend a bit of time on both sides of the river............... then maybe flip a coin to help you decide? Might be a good idea to rent short term until you get your bearings if you haven't been here before, have a real good luck around and do your homework before you go ahead and buy? Please don't rush into buying real estate as soon as you jump off the plane? I've just spent the last few weeks helping out a few brand new arrivals to Perth from the BE site. Through no fault of their own they got themselves in all kinds of trouble with court cases pending etc etc. It really is a legal nightmare buying real estate down under............ and in WA; for those of you that don't know already................. there is no cooling off period so once you sign on the dotted line................ that's it. One lot of new arrivals haven't slept for weeks through constant worry about being sued............ I'm very pleased to say I was able to help them and they got their deposit refunded last week and the court case was dropped! You lot of new arrivals are fair game to 'Dodgy Brothers Real Estate' operators here. They want your money and they play on the fact you don't have a clue what you are signing? Be careful. Contrary to belief........ not all real estate agents are scumbags, bastards, rip-off merchants etc etc.......... but sadly, a small minority are. Some BE members had the misfortune to come across the wrong type of agent. If anyone needs any info on rentals, or how to go about buying property........ ask and I can point you in the right direction. Be careful too what you sign for in a rental lease? I've spent a fair bit of time this month helping out BE members with rental problems too! if anyone needs any booklets on same.............. I have a stack of them in my office so sing out.
