Family Affair was the one time a year that we could all hang out with freinds and family...expanding both of those groups.

Memories...there are too many. Probably one of the funniest was...nahh, I won't go there (a certain redheaded girl knows where I was about to go  Very Happy)

the first year was special.  no one knew what to expect.  Dubtribe in the meadow at sunrise.  Doc Martin spinning all day on the hottest afternoon ever.  the ice cream truck blasting yabette songs, and providing much needed refreshment at the heat of the day.  but the best part was all the smiling faces saying hello to eachother.

For me, one memory that sticks out is when a dnb dj (don't remember who) on the Sat. night main stage dropped Summertime.  I sooo thought aliens were going to come over that hill.  Anyways, just one of many great memories.  Big upz!

This particular memory is from 1996.  My first Family Affair...sometimes it seems like yesterday instead of what 10+ years ago.

The first night of the first Family Affair. I was sitting on the hill watching everybody dance. People had been spinning all day but noone had gotten on the mic. Just as the sun started to go down Brian came out and welcomed everyone. Feelgood went on next and the place went nuts. I totally got sucked into the music. I ran down the hill and into the crowd to dance. Hmmmmmmmmm...Good Times!

Too many memories to list man... But one that sticks out is Scott Henry catching the speakers on FIRE the first night of FA1.  The second night, Terry Mullans set took me BACK.  Good times.
My other favorite memory was playing the main stage at FA4.  After the hip-hop(BBQ-SAUCE!) and dropping just a solid beat and watching the people come in droves down the hill to the main stage.  I felt like I was at woodstock or some shit.

I remember the speakers catching on fire. They burned for awhile before Joel jumped up there and knocked them over. But even after the speakers fell to the ground, flames shooting everywhere, kids just kept dancing. It wasn't till the music stopped that everyone stopped dancing and started to look around like "what happened?" Everyone looked like herded cattle. They were all walking in circles, bouncing off each other, not knowing what to do, until the music came back on. Classic raver moment!

Family affair 2, just hanging out. Friends, from all over... in one place, enjoying nature, and our culture - TOGETHER. Laughs, great company, conversations, emotions... just being together.  Some of the BEST times of my life.  All right there. My life was changed forever; I love these parties.

It's funny cause FA seemed like a lifetime ago but the best memory I have of the event happened at family affair 2 right about sunrise. I think it was saturday morning.  The dj was playing michael jackson's "you better be starting something" my substances were kicking in and I was completely by myself kicking it and dancing, ya know besides everyone else dancing.  It was actually the best moment of my life.....for some reason.

Isn't FA2 when Brian had to turn the sound way down during the late night/early morning hours? I just remember being in the dance area and the sound of feet dancing on pieces of cardboard was louder than the music. But by the looks on everyone's faces, noone seemed to mind Very Happy

that happened (again maybe?) at FA4.  the main stage sound was massive then it got cut to what seemed like the speakers right near the DJ.  we suspected it was the Amish up the valley complaining of all the noise.  %^)

i got no shame from fa3! granted, that was probably one of the most mentally disturbing moments in my life.. but it was also the memory i will never forget.. too long to repeat here, but with all the crazy-mindedness i also gained some spiritual insight that has stayed with me and helped me make it through each and every day..

if i get nekkid this year, it will be on purpose!
