Have any of you seen the exhibition in Penicuik library? It is about the Bevan boys and coalmining during the Second World War.
I found it very interesting.
It is very small, in the little cabinet in the atrium before you enter the library.
I asked which group had put it on but the librarian was not sure. She thought it was one of the local history groups.
I recommend a visit.

I think it sounds as if it may have been the exhibition which was touring round the various libraries in Midlothian. It might have been on at the mining museum in Newtongrange too, if I remember correctly. I think there was an article in The Advertiser when it opened, with some former Bevan Boys present. |

I saw a programme on BBC over Christmas and New Year about Morecambe and Wise. During WW2 Eric Morecambe was called up to work in a mine. He was his late teens and I think he spent over a year in the colliery. |

Do you know who put the exhibition together, Sue? I feel it's a shame that they don't get a credit. _________________
