Seems this was cut down twenty odd years ago but does anyone have any pictures they could scan or do they have the exact location of where it used to be. Sooz is it in RIE folklore? I am sure it was at that part of the Dalkeith road all I can find on the 'net is that it was "in the vicinity" of Craigmillar castle. Seem to remember it being surrounded by a railing thing and being dissapointed that this twiggy stump was the famous "Queen Mary's tree".

If it was the obvious Queen Mary, i.e. "of Scots", the tree must have been a fair age by the time you saw it, Soup.
Perhaps it had come to the end of its natural lifespan anyway.
I hope so, because I hate to see mature, healthy trees being erased just because some cooncil wants to build a bus shelter or something equally important and inspiring.
