Sorry to hear that. Hamsters are lovely, but they're not exactly long-lived, are they?

I always used to cry buckets over mine - my Dad always swore I'd never be allowed another one!

There's something very comforting about a little ball of fur that size, trusting you enough to sit in your hand and pouch sunflower seeds and stuff.

Goodnight, Stuart.

Sorry to hear it, Sooz, you can get really attached to them.

We gave our pair to an aunt to look after while we went on holiday.  The female gave birth to a lot of wee worm-like babies and auntie thought it so sweet until the male ate them whereupon she had to have several large whiskys administered.

I was condemned for suggesting that the cannibalism was just an excuse for a guid bucket.

Thankyou everyone...he's now at the big hamster cage in the sky. And helping the flowers grow in the back garden Smile...I like how they sit in your hand and trust you won't squash them...they do that hand to hand thing where they just don't figure out they're going nowhere....

Argh the flat people want me to get a Garantor or whatever it is cos my letter about my job says "provisionally offer you the post"....apparently I need more proof that I'm going into employment....and my boyfriend isn't persuaded to get a cat...*sigh*....

Sooz, though I don't write much here, please know that I do enjoy following your life.  I'm sure there are others who read but don't necesarily write.  Good luck in getting your guarantor and sorry about Stuart.

I would try getting an "updated" letter from your soon-to-be employer, saying that you're definitely In. After all, they want you to be near enough to get to work on time.

Being a guarantor is not a comfortable position, whether you're family or not - so try other avenues first.

As for the cat vs boyfriend thing - well, with a bit of hard work, patience and perseverance you can get him house-trained, and he'll learn to come to you for food and to get his ears tickled.

Meantime, the cat can just establish herself wherever she likes . . .

HEHEHEHEHE....I LOVE IT Very Happy.....I'm sure he'd appreciate having his ears tickled, have to work on the house-training tho....Razz....Who'd have thought renting a flat could be so stressful. I cannot seem to get a letter saying the job is more than privisionally mine cos it won't be fully mine till I've been to occy health, done my induction week etc. "Provisional" isn't good enough for the flat company....*sigh*....cheers Wen Smile....sorry if I'm dull but these folk are great at advice:)

This may be equally dull, but have you thought of asking the Citizens' Advice Bureau what you could do?

They know a lot more about the legal stuff than I do - and if there's a way round the sticky patch, I'm sure they'll know about it.

It's what they're there for. Give 'em a go! And - goes without saying - I hope you'll get it all sorted out soon.

Better waiting for a day and getting a clean flat, rather than moving into a midden, Sooz.
