Some of our Members (you know who you are . . . !) may have noticed that the Games Arcade hasn't been working for a couple of days.

I have been trying to get some information on this for you, but there isn't much to find.

I have heard that it's a problem with a new version of Java being incompatible with FireFox - but since the same thing happens in Internet Explorer, I don't think that can be the whole truth.

I apologise for this unexpected hiatus in your enjoyment, and I promise I will let you know just as soon as I hear something definite.

At the moment FPB HQ is standing on its collective head trying to get Version 3 up and running, and in the process they are also doing things like clearing out old, unused forums. It's possible that one of the Techs has leaned on the wrong button again . . . but I can't tell you any more for now, sorry.

By the way - if anyone does want to see a Version 3 test board, there's one at this address - this is not a fully-functioning forum, it is simply for the owner to try the new forums out and see what's possible. Anything posted there - and in fact the whole thing - will vanish into thin air once the system starts up for real. But you are welcome to have a look around, and pass on your thoughts.

Still no Arcade, I'm afraid. Someone suggested re-Importing all the games, but I had already done that.

Someone else suggested un-Installing and re-Installing the whole thing, which I've just done, to no good effect.

The only thing I managed to change was the high scores, which have all vanished into the ether . . . sorry about that.

It's been a week now, but I honestly can't tell you how long we'll have to do without it.

Well . . . the latest news is that the Games are back!

At least, the two I tried are working. Any problems, let me know, and I'll report to HQ.

No, I can't get your high scores back, sorry - you'll just have to win 'em back yourself!

P.S. And the Image uploader is working again, which will please a few of us.

And I'm off to bed now. Honestly, it's hard work keeping you all happy.
