· Quote

Following a suggestion from a Member, we've decided to re-install the Photo Album. It wasn't used when it was here before, but there have been a few improvements to the module since that time, so we thought it would be worth giving it another try.

The reason for bringing it back is because we have so many photographs amongst our posts - but it isn't always easy to find the one you're certain you saw, somewhere . . .

If you have posted old photos, photos of the Great Outdoors or anything you think someone might want to see again, please feel free to post them in the Album. (Link in the top Menu bar, next to the Games Arcade)

This process is exactly the same as uploading them to a normal post, but you can give each photo a title to make it easier to search for. You can even add a link to the post where it originally appeared, and where you have given the story that goes with it. The Album does have the facility to add a brief description, but this only appears as a pop-up when you hover over the thumbnail. You can't easily copy it.

Uploaded photos must be 800x600 or 600x800 pixels, and in .jpg, .gif or .png format. These stipulations will be visible when you begin to upload.

As well as the public galleries, each Registered Member is able to have their own small private gallery, so that you can easily compare several photos to see which will work best, for example.

If there is a demand, the number of photos which can be stored and displayed will be increased, but I think there will be enough room for now.

Please let the Admin Team know if you have any problems with this - or any other thoughts you have about the Album.

Enjoy!

Sorry, forgot to add this bit!

To create your own personal Album - look at the bottom of the Public Categories list, and click Your Personal Gallery. Uploading one picture will establish your personal space.

P.S. Don't be worried by that "Public Galleries" label - the Album is not open to the casual visitor. You have to be a Registered Member here to get in to it at all.

Cool

Magic!

I spent ages looking at the Hay's Park picture in the Glebe Place posting... there must be more crackers out there so if folks could post here it would save time trawling through all the other posts... interesting though they may be :-)

Here's a piece of an old map of 1898 showing Auchendinny.   Interesting thing is, there are TWO pubs marked ---- Forrester's Rest and Rabbit Hunt.

I'll put this in the album.  Incidentally, I wonder if everyone knows that there IS an album?

I've put two Hay's Park photos in the Album, mad-dog.  In one, they're howking up the park and you can see the shell of Brae House (as well as Moo's cement dug-wi'-nae-heid).  In the other, the road is pretty well finished and Brae House has gone but you can see St. Mungo's with the old Manse, the back of the hotel, and the Cowan Institute.

Thanks, Spry! Keep 'em coming.

One day you'll get far enough down into that trunk of yours to find that photo of old Methuselah Spry building the Tower of Terregles . . .

Do you know, I came across a mention of that place again but I've lost it.  Something to do with one of the Clerk's (way back) regretting the destruction of Terregles and wishing he could rebuild it.  The heid's wastit!

Doesn't surprise me much.

Laughing

I had another thought about it, though. Suppose Tower / Toure is actually just plain old tour . . .

And Terregles is really terre eglise / eaglais . . .

Then the farm of the Tower of Terregles could be thon gairden roon' aboot Kirklands.
