Hello to all my friends: the old, the new and the as yet unknown.

My name is Zina, and it is exactly four weeks now since I gave birth to this message board, after a surprisingly brief period of gestation. (It was a lot less painful than giving birth to Big Asbo, I can tell you!)

We have made amazing progress in those four weeks. Nineteen brave souls have signed on as Members, and between them have posted 939 articles on subjects ranging from socks and teaspoons to mountains, prophecy and sheep. But most of all, we have had lots of fun doing it.

We will be delighted to welcome new Members who want to join in with some friendly, silly, often informative and always interesting conversation, and it would be lovely to meet you here in this Forum which has been specially created to greet you.

Please feel free to leave a message here by way of introduction - you don't have to dress up or talk in a posh voice or anything, just be yourself. And if you need any help finding your way around, just look for any Member who is online at the same time, or ask your Admin Team - myself (Zina) and my two sweet and lovable children, Anona.Mouse and Big Asbo.

Well . . . Anona is sweet and lovable, some of the time at least. I'm afraid the jury may still be out on Asbo.

Hah! So, it wasn't much fun giving birth to the vicious little b***r, was it?

How do you think it felt being the elder twin, when your baby brother was determined to be first out, at any price? And why did you have to order one with a full set of gnashers already in place?

Anyway . . . let's draw a veil over that, and leave it all behind us. (  Embarassed  bum  )

My name, as you will by now realise, is Anona.Mouse, and I am the real expert here. Don't bother asking Big Asbo about anything that doesn't involve raw meat, and as for Zina . . . well, she's off to bed with a Methuselah of gin, so we won't see her again for a week or two.

That gives me the runs . . . I mean, that gives me the run of the place. So please have a wander around to get the feel of the board, and don't forget to pop in here again before you go, just to say hello. We'd all like to meet you (except Big A - if you're not careful, he'll be delighted to eat you) and share a cup of tea and a biscuit with you. No, not that one - the caramel wafer is mine.

Nice to have you aboard, anyway - so enjoy yourself! That's what we're all here for.

Hello to any new members.   My name is Spry and I've been away in foreign pairts for a couple of days.   I've come back only to find that I can't get in to any of the forums with the exception of 'Announcements' and 'Welcome'.

BE AWARE THAT THIS LACK OF ACCESS IS A DELIBERATE DEVICE ON THE PART OF YON TWO HORRORS, ANONA AND DINGLE TO SQUEEZE ME OUT, GET RID OF ME AND GENERALLY TO PREVENT ME FROM AIRING MY VIEWS, WHICH ARE INVARIABLY OF AN INCREDIBLY HIGH STANDARD.

So there you have it.   The root of the trouble is JEALOUSY but don't let this put you new members off.   It is unlikely that you will have anything like my intellectual ability or good looks, so you will be safe from the daggers of THOSE TWO!

Welcome to our happy group.

Just found that I can access once I sign in, BUT THIS IS STILL A DEVICE DESIGNED TO CONFUSE ME!!

Smiles are like Nectar points - you earn them by posting! There's some kind of formula for how many you get per post, but I can't remember it offhand.

With Karma points other people award them to you but can also take them away. With Smiles, once you've earned them, they're yours to keep - unless you decide to give them away.

Just another little incentive to keep you interested!

Ahh, but are they like Nectar points in that you get to spend them on something nice?

I live in hope........

And a karma of over 200!

You must be at nirvana now!  (It's getting a bit like - 'Are we there yet, Dad?')   Razz

The Hosts are threatening / promising Wonderful Rewards to come . . . like free domain names.

Can't wait.

They'll probably give us all a nice new board of our own to play with.

It's the bit that identifies which group of webpages a particular page belongs to.

If you had, for example:

www.spry.co.uk/faces

www.spry.co.uk/allmybankinfo

www.spry.co.uk/bananas

www.spry.co.uk/ihatedinglemcfinkle

then spry.co.uk/ would be the domain, and all the others would be sub-pages inside that folder.

It also works with e-mail addresses: you could be

Karmacomedian@spry.co.uk

Well, I think that's more or less how it works!

P.S. As far as I know, none of the above addresses actually exists.

Thanks Anona, that's very clear.

You're right, I got 'page cannot be found' for all of those addresses with the exception of  /ihatedingle where 121,975 people agreed with me.  Shame!

That's odd - it was only 121,842 when I looked.
