I'm sorry about this, folks - honestly. But it appears that our resident Kraken has awoken from her aestivation snooze, for just long enough to invent a new form of torture for you all to "enjoy". (She told me to say that.)

A few inches to the right of this Announcement, you should spot a new entry in the Board Navigation box, and a brand new box underneath, entitled (shudder) "Have Fun with Auntie Zina", or something along those lines. She claims that this is a harmless, fun little quiz game.

Now - I do try my very best to keep you all safe from harm, so I have had a quick look, and so far I seem to have escaped relatively unscathed.

You have to sign on with a username and password - this is so that you will land on the table each time you score. (I think that's what she said.) Because the quiz is only open to our Members, you can't take part as a guest. But it will remember who you are next time, if you like.

It's quite straightforward - once you've signed up for an account, you just find the link to "Play today's Game", and off you go. I think it's ten questions, and then you can polish your ego while you compare your daily score with any other victims. Sorry, I mean Players.

There's a daily high-score table, and I think there must be a monthly one too - your points accumulate each time you drop in. Topics will change regularly - probably a different one each day, if you grow to like it - so you won't have to answer the same ones every time!

Have fun, and don't forget to let the Admin Team know if you have any problems or questions about it. (No, I'm afraid we haven't got the day's answers.)

Any major complaints should be addressed, as usual, to Zina - I'm sure she'll be delighted to attend to them, once her hibernation snooze is over.

Those of our more intrepid Members who have Dared the Portals of Doom - a.k.a. Zina's Boudoir of Fun - will have noticed that you win points for your efforts - and points, as we all know, mean Prizes. Perhaps you thought you were just going to collect millions upon millions of the things, and then have to spend many hours dusting 'em?

Not a bit of it!

Next time you're in there, have a look at the tabs between the headline and the "Today's Game" blurb - in particular the one marked Awards.

Yes - you can use your high-scoring points to buy real virtual prizes to add to your Profile!

At the moment, I'm torn between saving up for the Insane Horse of Doom or my very own Happy Personal Whale. But who knows - I may just hang on a teensy bit longer, and buy myself a virtual aircraft carrier.

For some reason they've filed the IHOD in amongst "Pets" - whereas everyone knows it should be among the Forms of Nearly-Transport.

By the way, Zina assures me that once she's tried out all the available Topics, she'll be able to pick the ones that suit our clientele on this 'ere Forum - so don't forget to put in any requests! (Or anti-requests, for the impossible ones.)

I believe it's Saturday Night at the Movies next, and then on Sunday there's a special Customised Quiz - so we'll be expecting a full turn-out for that.
