I noticed a sign today outside Glencorse Barracks advising that roadworks would start "here" on December 3rd 2007 and we should expect huge delays. I tried to find out more and I read a notice on the web advising the works should last one day:

http://www.roadworksscotland.org/ExtendedDetails.aspx?key=006538230000

However.... I also noticed this little nugget:

http://www.gazettes-online.co.uk/ViewGazetteDocument.aspx?atdocid=4587294&GeoType=Edinburgh&category docids=112&lastissuecount=10

.... and the works will last for more than 3 months!

"From Milton Bridge to Moorfoot View".   Where is Moorfoot View?

In any event it seems like a good idea to continue using the hill road which is what I do at present.

Moorfoot View is the main A701 at Bilston. I predict tears in the morning and at tea-time!

Thanks, Edna.  That's quite a distance!   I'll definitely continue to use the hill road.  Trouble is, so will everyone else!

I didn't come across any yet, Edna.  I didn't see any roadworks along there either, though the signs were out.  Since they have put a 3 month timing on it perhaps this period is just one of building our anticipation for when they really do mend the raod.
